Revy Rebecca, if she had powers and supernatural abilities, would be a lot more like Ryuko even though she already has similarities and contrasts.
She’s a dual-wielding gangster who works for The Lagoon Company, smuggling people, drugs, or whatever for money and profit.
With her upbringing being one of the most realistic and relatable experiences a person could face, it’s no wonder she has dark and ugly traits to her inner personality when the wrong person crosses her.
That balances out with her more upbeat, smiley, fun, and entertaining personality that she’s known and loved for in the anime community.
She’s straight laced and you don’t get much more brutally honest than Revy.
3. Kyoko Sakura (Madoka Magica)
Kyoko Sakura has one of the saddest pasts in the Madoka Magica series but is one of the strongest and most honest and direct characters there is.
She doesn’t wallow in pity about her past life, how she became a magical girl, the circumstances of it, and the tragic events that took place. She lifts her head high and pushes forward regardless.
She lives for herself and doesn’t blame anyone or point fingers when things don’t go her way.
She’s independent, upfront, skilled at fighting, and will fight for her beliefs. This is a lot like Ryuko Matoi when you boil it down.
4. Soi Fon (Bleach)
Soi Fon might be the most honest and direct character in the whole of the Soul society. She doesn’t hold her tongue for anyone (except Yoruichi), and she prefers to get to the point instead of beating around the bush.
That fits her strengths and abilities very well as her Zanpakuto, Suzumebachi is able to finish off her enemies if stricken from the front and back of the opponent.
After that, they die without fail.
She’s an assassin as well and the leader of the stealth force, adding even more context to her straightforward and honest personality.
5. Tomo Aizawa (Tomo Chan Is A Girl)
Tomo is the anime’s main female character and the popular tomboy that everyone in the anime community knows to some degree.
She has red hair, the cliche sharp tooth alongside her 32 teeth, has some masculine traits, knows martial arts, and gets bent out of shape too easily.
Many boys would be scared off by this “not so” feminine behaviour, but Jun, her love interest, has been a childhood friend forever and knows her inside and out.
If Ryuko Matoi was featured in a romance series and had a chance at romance, Tomo is probably the kind of person she’d look like while trying.
They have similar characteristics and temperaments.
6. Risa Koizumi (Lovely Complex)
Risa is the insecure tall character from Lovely Complex, a romance and shoujo series. She’s judged for her height, and her love interest is judged for his “short” stature.
Being a straightforward and honest person, Risa can come across as aggressive sometimes. And her height only makes this stereotype even worse.
But she also is a soft person at the centre of who she is, similar to Ryuko Matoi in a way.
7. Lina Inverse (Slayers)
Lina is a lot like Ryuko Matoi and they both have similar temperaments.
Lina is agitated easily, and insecure enough in some ways that poking at her flaws is guaranteed to make her explode with anger and frustration.

Rukia is a tomboy of sorts just like Ryuko Matoi. Both have Black hair, and both characters are very morally upstanding people who came from a tougher upbringing them many others.
She’s a loyal anime character and one of the most loyal three could ever be. She’s the reason Ichigo has gotten through the toughest times, and vice versa.
Rukia is one of the best friends a person could have.
9. Erza Scarlet (Fairy Tail)
Erza was a child slave, making parts of her childhood different to Ryuko’s in this way. But like Ryuko she has a strong personality and is an even stronger person with the highest moral standards.
She’s a knight and a swordswoman. Her principles never waiver or change, because her morals and ethics aren’t for sale.
Neither are her morals and ethics so cheap that she can be bought outright.
