10 Of The Top Romance Anime That Will Always Hit The Mark

10 Of The Top Romance Anime That Will Always Hit The Mark

Today we’ll be looking at a genre (romance) that has impressed people of all ages since the beginning of time itself.

You might be 40 years old but still wouldn’t be able to fight the feeling that comes up when you remember those old times. The times when you used to feel that very feeling, that very emotion.

It’s something that makes us feel warm inside and makes the world colourful all of a sudden, making our hearts race when we think of that significant other. Romance is what brings people together and it for sure is one of the most beautiful things in the entire world.

It’s something so sweet that even the most badass character out there would give in to the weakness romance comes hand in hand with.

It for sure makes sleeping difficult since dreams are something where your wildest desires and fantasies come true, being something that keeps you from reality, but your reality is better than your dreams at that point when you’re with that significant other.

Do know that romance anime like:

  • Kimi ni Todoke
  • Toradora
  • Clannad

And Your Name is one of the best anime ever so we’ll be looking at some others who just can’t make the list when it comes to the top romance anime cause spots 1 and 2 are always being occupied by these powerhouses online.

Here’s a list:

10. Katanagatari

Katanagatari romance fantasy

A blend of all kinds of things, Katanagatari sure isn’t any ordinary anime you’re used to watching.

From the get-go go the art is something that makes it stand out from any other show that’s been animated to this very day.

It brings in the true feel of the anime making us appreciate just how beautiful the show looks without any Gucci studio backing it up.

The quest to gather those swords would be a tough one, that’s for sure. But Shicika isn’t afraid even a bit since during the entire journey he’s with Togame, the girl who he just can’t take his eyes away from.

You’ll be seeing all kinds of characters as the show goes on, never getting bored even a bit.

The fights make Katangatari all the more special. From the first episode, you’ll see some crisp animation with that well-done choreography that makes some of the fights look on par with the ones we give such accolades.

There’s something for the comedy fans as well so better not skip out on this show. You won’t regret even a bit.

9. Bakuman

Bakuman anime romance

Confessing your feelings to a girl you like sure is the hardest thing to do in the entire universe. Let’s say you make that happen in some world. How do things go from there? Acceptance? Rejection?

How about the girl who says that she wants to bring both of ‘their’ dreams together at the same place? What a sweet thing to say.

Mashiro is a high school boy who wants to be a mangaka just like his uncle who was a renowned gag manga artist. But he gave up on that dream seeing how his uncle ended up. Now having a crush on Azuki Miho, Takagi Akito takes Mashiro to confess his feelings to the girl he harbours such affection towards.

Making their dreams come true and bringing them together in the best way possible, Bakuman is a tale that would make you appreciate just how well-written the show is.

One of the purest stories of romance out there, you can’t help but get mesmerized by the bewitching spells the show comes hand in hand with. From the same creators of Death Note, you know that a genius mind has no limits.

8. ReLife

ReLife couple

Man, I wish this series had a proper anime adaptation. ReLife is a rather unique concept.

Let me ask you, If you had a chance to travel back in time to your high school days just to relive your life once again so that you might be a different person, would you do it? I for sure would do it just to make those same mistakes just in a different way this time.

Coming up with a pill that can transform you into a high schooler, technology sure is booming here in ReLife. Oh, and I forgot to mention, you get to keep your consciousness and memories, everything.

So it’s like an adult trapped inside a kid’s body.

ReLife is a perfect tale of romance showing that no matter where you are, no matter where you go, romance is something that would always be there, always bringing two people towards each other.

But the show has a lot to offer since Arata Kaizaki would be seeing a lot of unexpected stuff popping out of the blue.

7. Gosick

Gosick anime series

Sherlock has never looked any cuter. Anime has this way of Arthur coming up as Saber from Fate and Sherlock Holmes coming up as Victorique from Gosick. It’s so different yet done really well.

Gosick is where the romance and mystery come together to bring you a great story, one of the best the genre combo has ever come up with.

The backgrounds are done really well in this anime so you’ll feel as if you’re watching a real scenery with the anime characters ‘fitted’ in it since the backgrounds look so close to the ones we see in real life.

Filled up with one of the most complex mysteries out there, Gosick follows Kazuya who finds a girl while climbing up the stairs in the library.

From that day Victorique and Kazuya are in this chain of events that are, at times, really dark making you question whether it’s the same adorable show from the first episode or not. Victorique’s character is what makes the anime win so many points.

She tries to act big and tough but is so cute that you can’t help but adore the character. Kazuya keeps playing the straight man so he’s more like a Shinpachi from Gintama.

All those events that the show comes up with as we dive deeper into the story bring them closer and closer making them feel things are different when they’re not together.

It’s the perfect show for those people who don’t want to watch ‘only romance’ and want something else to keep them coming back to it.

6. Garden of Words

Garden of Words gorgeous

Animation that sure is cocaine to the eyes, Garden of Words takes you all in from the get-go with that piano that you’ll be looking up on YouTube later on. I can guarantee you that. But the animation and music aren’t all that the anime has to offer.

Going to school on a rainy day sure is going to end up with you arriving late to class and getting detention in the corridor or something. Why not sit in the nearby garden and appreciate nature at its finest?

Garden of Words tells the tale of two hearts that are brought together by the rainy season, they see each other again and again as the drops keep falling down from the clouds. It’s as if they’re cheering on the couple from the heavens above.

The two come close to each other sharing their stories and everything. But nothing lasts forever, that’s for sure. Now with the rain gone, knowing nothing when it comes to each other’s whereabouts, Takao Akizuki sure never expected him to long for rain ever in his entire life.

One word, Beautiful.

5. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai romance series

One word, original. Puberty Syndrome has never been shown in anime. Yet now we have an entire show that pivots around it. Being there in person, talking like normal people, hearing everything going around you, but no one ‘seeing’ or ‘hearing’ you.

You sure would be looking at yourself whether you’re wearing an invisibility cloak or something from Harry Potter. At first it’d feel like your friends are pulling a prank on you. But if strangers start doing the same, you sure know that something’s wrong.

The show brings romance at its best since the chemistry between Mai and Sakuta is something you won’t be forgetting for a while. From the get go, Azusagawa Sakuta is clear and true to Mai that he likes her and would help her as much as he can.

Being the only one who can see you and being the only one who you can talk to, you already know that you’re made for each other. Filled with all kinds of punch lines and pickup lines, get ready to see a story that has both a dark and good side to it.

You’ll be caught off guard a million times.

4. Kaguya Sama Love is War

Kaguya Sama Love is War comedy romance

I’m pretty sure you all have heard of this one since it’s been making the charts since last year. Featuring Romance in the weirdest way possible, Kaguya Sama Love is War is one of a kind.

Never in anime history has romance been treated as a war where victory is decided whether the other person yields first or not. Everything’s fair in love and war, this anime is the clear example of that phrase we’ve been hearing all this time.

Get ready to see a lot of comedy mixed in with the romance that’d be like a breath of fresh air. Kaguya and Miyuki, no matter what they do, know that they’re the ones for each other. But pride is something that makes your thought processes and actions look entirely different.

Brace yourselves for you’ll be meeting a lot of interesting characters since these two aren’t the only ones the anime focuses on.

3. Tsuki ga Kirei

Tsuki ga Kirei unique anime romance

Do you remember your school romance? We all do now don’t we? Whether it was a success or a failure, that sure felt good now didn’t it? Tsuki ga Kirei reminds you of those times, making those memories crystal clear in your head.

Everyone has that crush on someone in school. You get that ‘heart attack’ when you see them making your heart beat all the faster in an instant.

Being in that person’s company sure can make you feel as if you’re floating in the air, not a care in the world. But there’s a lot else to look out for now, isn’t it? With that crisp animation that makes the show look all the better, Tsuki ga Kirei has it all.

It’s school romance at its best and there’s no other show that presents it in the beautiful way Tsuki ga Kirei does. You’ll be rooting for the characters yourself, that’s for sure.

Remember, gathering up the courage to ask your crush out, that’s really tough. But do it since risking is better than regretting.

Learn from Koutarou.

2. A Silent Voice

A Silent Voice scene

Kids are rather rambunctious when they’re kids. What did I just say? Still, we all remember that as kids we have done some questionable things that we don’t even want to think about.

Making fun of a person who wasn’t born the same way as you were, that’s not acceptable at all. Shouya and his classmates sure bully Shouko for not being able to hear the way they do. However when the school comes to know about it, apparently he’s the only one to blame since he gets singled out.

From that point onwards he’s at the mercy of everyone at his school since no one steps up to tell the truth that he wasn’t the only one responsible for the bullying that took place.

Now in high school, still haunted by his past, Shouya wants to tie loose ends and meet that very girl, Shouko once again.

It’s a perfect tale of how your past would never ever leave you behind and the loose ends you won’t tie would just strangle you to death if you don’t get back to making things right.

1. Your Lie in April

Your Lie in April characters cast

One of the most well-known series out there, Your Lie in April is something that’s really close to my heart. It revitalized the whole romance genre for me and made me want to give love another chance.

Arima Kousei, someone who had everything taken away from him looks forward to nothing in his life. But all that is changed when he comes across this girl who makes him go back to his old days, the days when he was a renowned pianist.

Your Lie in April is Romance at its best since the feelings, the emotions, everything is so pure that you wouldn’t be feeling the same way after you’re done with the show. One of the best openings and endings out there, Your Lie in April is the best thing you can watch.

Well, what am I even saying I’m pretty sure a lot of you have already watched it. But if you haven’t, go check it out. It’s one of my favourite shows of all time.
