15 Of The Best Anime I’m Looking Forward To Seeing In 2019

So many anime in 2019 and so little time to watch them all…

But I do have more than a handful I wanna see.

So with that said, here are 15+ shows I’m looking forward to seeing. Which I’ll definitely be watching no matter what happens.

The Best Anime Of 2019:

1. A Certain Scientific Railgun Season 3

YouTube video

Railgun was first made in 2007 as a manga. Then released and produced by J.C Staff in 2009 as a 2 season anime series.

So it’s been ages since we’ve had anything so far. Almost 10 years.

Now a third season is on the way, and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.

A Certain Scientific Railgun is one of my favourite Supernatural series of all time, with a solid example of a strong “female” protagonist with good qualities.

Hopefully, they won’t disappoint.

2. My Hero Academia Season 4

This is cliche and unsurprising, but whatever. I love My Hero Academia so far.

I can’t think of any Shounen series in the past few years that I’ve loved more than this. Especially for series that are ongoing.

With every season My Hero Academia seems to get better, without falling into the trap of lazy storytelling and pointless fan service to cover up flaws (like other Shounen series).

The writers seem to be working at a good pace with the series and nothing feels rushed or out of place.

I expect big things in 2019!

3. One Punch Man Season 2

One Punch Man was supposed to be released in 2018. But that never happened. Now as things stand it’s looking to release in 2019 with lots of hints and new videos to prove it.

While One Punch Man isn’t my TOP anime show, I love it for its originality and the way it mocks other cliche Shounen tropes…

Doing it in a way that makes One Punch Man feel brand new and refreshing.

And this time around we’ll get to see just how powerful Saitama really is.

4. Magical Girl: Spec Ops Asuka

magical girl spec ops asuka 2019

The Magical Girl genre, even though it seems like there are a lot of anime within it, is actually smaller than you think. Meaning there’s not 1000’s of magical girl series.

That said – Spec Ops Asuka looks like it has the potential to be a popular magical girl anime like Madoka Magica.

It’s set to be one of the bloodiest, dark series we’ve seen in this genre. Plus it’s Seinen so I’m looking forward to seeing how that makes it stand out

It’s adapted from a Manga series.

5. Granblue Fantasy The Animation (Season 2)

Granblue Fantasy is a personal favourite in the adventure genre.

You get to see a lot of scenes, backgrounds, towns and chemistry between the characters that travel together in a fantasy world.

2019 is set to release a 2nd season and I’ll be watching it when that happens!

6. The Promised Neverland

YouTube video

Remember how Darling In The Franxx or Violet Evergarden was hyped up earlier in 2018?

Well, The Promised Neverland is set to be “the Violet Evergarden” of 2019. With a lot of anticipation for what’s to come.

Mostly because it’s been adapted from a light novel series.

Let’s hope it lives up to the hype, unlike Darling In The Franxx.

7. Compulsive Gambler (Season 2)

yumeko jabami kakegurui

Compulsive Gambler (Kakegurui) was a decent series when it first released.

It’s a mixture of death note without violence, and Higurashi without the craziness. Except it’s focused on gambling and business in a school environment.

Psychologically the 1st season was pretty smart. So who knows what season 2 will bring, but it should be good (or even better).

8. Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai

If you’ve watched Girls Und Panzer, then this anime is being lead by the same director of that series.

I don’t know too much about Kouya No Kotobuki, except that it’s an action, military show that’s caught my interest.

9. YU-NO: A girl who chants love at the bound of this world

yu no a girl who chants love at the bound of this world anime show

This is originally taken from a video game. Released way back in 1996!

The title is what’s drawn me in. As for the anime? It has some time-traveling aspects involved.

Let’s see what happens.

10. Made In Abyss (Season 2)

made in abyss season 2 2019

Made in Abyss was a good show. Not as good as Madoka Magica (or similar shows) but I enjoyed it.

There’s no confirmed release date for Made In Abyss season 2, but it’s set for 2019.

Probably wintertime.

11. Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia

Ever since Fate Grand Order in 2017, I’ve been wanting the movie to continue into a full series.

And now we’re getting it.

Just like Made In Abyss, there’s no official release date but it’s being produced by a1 Pictures (same studio as Fairy Tail and Blue Exorcist).

12. Kantai Collection Season 2

kantai collection season 2 mutsuki fubuki and yudachi 1

It’s been a few years since the first Kantai Collection. I love Slice of Life shows so it’s not surprising I enjoyed it.

The 2nd season for this military series, based on real battleships has no official date for 2019 just yet.

13. Young Again in Another World

young again in another world anime 2019

The last thing that happened with this series was that it got cancelled. And we’ve not heard much since.

Adapted from a light novel series (if it airs) this could be an interesting Isekai series. Assuming they officially release it with a legit date in 2019.

14. Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record

As a fan of this classic show, released some years back by Shaft (who made Monogatari) it’s good to see something new again.

Hopefully, they’re not just milking the series and will actually release something worth watching. As part of the Madoka Magica franchise.

15. Bungou Stray Dogs (Season 3)

bungou stray dogs season 3 anime

And then there’s Bungou Stray Dogs season 3 to finish up this post.

This is a weird series with even stranger characters. Each with their own personality and personal challenges.

It’s like the modern-day version of Baccano, but better. And it’s looking like there will be an official release in 2019.

2019 “might” be a good year for the anime industry

And with other shows like Attack On Titan coming in 2019, who knows what the year holds and how successful it’ll be?
