I’ve never followed the whole “simping” culture you see on the internet these days, and I never grew up around it. But I understand it after seeing it so much regardless of anime.
A simp is someone who pedestalizes a man or a woman, even to the point of lowering your standards just to please them at your own expense.
With anime that means:
- Pedastalizing anime characters.
- Obsessing over them.
- Demoralizing yourself.
And treating them the way fans treat celebrities they fancy or admire. “Fangirling” and things of that nature.
Here’s a list of anime characters that seem to fit the bill.
1. Makima (Chainsaw Man)
Makima from Chainsaw Man is from the popular
With the cult-like following of
From what I’ve seen the reactions to this character are ridiculous. But it’s also undeniable.
2. Levi Ackerman (Attack On Titan)
Levi is a character who doesn’t show up straight away in the first season of AOT. But when he does he takes over the limelight and this is for most of the seasons with his memorable moments.
Women love this character. Female fans in particular are the reason he’s popular. Fujoshi lovers are especially obsessed.
3. Gray Fullbuster (Fairy Tail)
Gray goes without saying really. He’s like the next level to Levi and that’s for obvious reasons. One being the fact Gray always takes his top off in the
He’s an ice wizard. He’s used to the cold and he takes his top off out of habit. The way Juvia Locker (his love interest) simps over Gray is how some of his fans behave in a way.
4. Revy Rebecca (Black Lagoon)
Revy is loved and appreciated by many fans regardless of how they behave. Casual fans love Revy, action fans love Revy, women love revy, and SIMPS pedestalize her as a character.
She’s a female character with a foul mouth, rough around the edges, had a depressing upbringing, and was mistreated by police as a woman. This makes her more guarded, tough, violent, and less empathetic.
She’s also one of the best written female characters.
This platform offers a diverse selection of over 30 stunning women with attractive physical features. Users can recruit, enhance, and establish relationships with their preferred characters, referred to as "waifus."
5. Hinata Hyuga (Naruto)
Hinata is a female character fans either love to hate, or they respect her character a lot. Many fans claim Hinata as a waifu which isn’t hard to believe. She’s feminine, kind genuine, modest, and
She’s also the character who was genuine from the start of Naruto and never had any ulterior motives and doesn’t have it in her to manipulate people for selfish reasons.
There’s a lot to like about Hinata.
6. Asuna Yuuki (Sword Art Online)
Asuna is the main female character of the SAO series and one who sticks by Kirito’s side after they meet in season 1. They go from strangers to lovers which is a major highlight.
She comes from a privileged background, but Asuna is still modest, kind, level-headed, and down to earth. Which only makes her more attractive as it would any person in real life.
7. Chizuru Mizuhara (Rent A Girlfriend)
Chizuru Mizuhara, or “Ichinose” is the ultimate rental girlfriend in the anime series. She’s the first rental girlfriend that Kazuya Kinoshita decides to “rent” because he’s depressed and heartbroken after being dumped by Mami.
After renting her his life changes and even he changes in slight ways, but he’s still a SIMP who lacks confidence, self-esteem, and can’t seem to make up his mind or have the balls to do what he wants.
Chizuru’s kindness, femininity, work ethic, and ability to focus on what matters while being respectful to others are what make her personality shine
8. Osamu Dazai (Bungou Stray Dogs)
The main man from Bungou Star Dogs. An ex-gang member. Now a part of the Armed Detective Agency which is a group of characters with supernatural abilities who target criminals with supernatural powers.
Dazai is obsessed with committing a double suicide. Death, dying, and dark subjects are part of his regular conversations, but it’s usually In a lighthearted way.
His eccentric personality and ability to fool people are what make him unique and likeable (aside from female fans finding him attractive).
9. Yor Forger (Spy x Family)
The mother of the household. Yor is a mother found by Loid, who she marries to save face. But for her, it becomes a real thing and she has real feelings along the way.
She’s an assassin in secret and cares deeply for her younger brother. In her “off” time she’s
10. Zero Two (Darling In The Franxx)
Released way back in 2018, this anime is most known for its female character called Zero Two. She’s the girl who always says “darling” and she made the phrase famous in the anime community.
Her role as a protagonist and one who has a relationship with Hiro is what made her so popular, admired, and pedestalized.
11. Yoruichi Shihoin (Bleach)
The black cat, literally. And the black female character from
Cheeky, stunning, strong, powerful, relevant in the story, and one who likes teasing the main character Ichigo a lot… Yoruichi is one of the most appreciated female characters in
12. Rem (Re:Zero)
When one of the female characters of an anime series ends up in a “fandom war” with another respected female character, it’s no surprise she’d end up in a list like this.
Rem is the support character of the anime but one with enough clout that she can be considered a secondary protagonist. She’s the one people lost their minds over during her time with Subaru later in the 1st season.
Fans love her character.
13. Emilia (Re:Zero)
Emilia is the other side of the coin when it comes to Re:Zero, its waifus, how obsessed people can be, and how she’s put on a pedestal as a female character.
She’s the first choice for Subaru Natsuki and the one he falls in love with. She’s the star of the show and the centre of everything. Subaru’s struggles and goals are all focused on Emilia in some way.
She’s more gentle, kind, level-headed, and forgiving than Rem, but she’s also a bit naive in some ways.
14. Brandish (Fairy Tail)
The Spriggan 12 in
She has the power to destroy countries and nations with her dangerous abilities and magic power.
Brandish is a lot kinder, more laid back, easy-going, and reasonable than her reputation suggests. And she became an instant waifu the moment she showed up in the last
She even surpassed characters like Erza, Lucy, and Mirajane in some people’s eyes.
15. Rangiku Matsumoto (Bleach)
Rangiku is another “bouncy” character a lot of fans obsess over, especially on Twitter and platforms like it. Rangiku is a character with a lot of likeable qualities.
On the surface, she seems like a girl with big oppai and no brains. A woman who’s just attractive and that’s it. But in reality, she’s a woman with depth, and relevance in the story, and one who makes her presence known.
She’s one of the best female
16. Rias Gremory (High School DxD)
Rias Gremory is a certified character anime fans SIMP over in the anime community. She’s the red-headed devil (no pun intended) with a lot of power in the anime series.
She’s also the love interest of Issei, the main male character of the show. But there are others along the way in this
17. Marin Kitagawa (My Dress Up Darling)
My Dress Up Darling caused a lot of controversies and it was expected from the beginning. This
Marin loves anime,
She’s thoughtful, very feminine, relaxing to be around, and brings peace to whoever she’s with. It’s not surprising why she’s so liked.
18. Bakugo Katsuki (My Hero Academia)
Similar to other male characters, Bakugo is loved by Fujoshi lovers. People who ship male characters and female fans who love Yaoi (gay anime).
This crowd of people SIMPS over characters like Bakugo and obsesses over his looks and personality more than they do the anime itself and his role in MHA.
He’s a hot-headed character, a bit entitled has an ego problem, but is ultimately one of the most entertaining characters.
19. Erza Scarlet (Fairy Tail)
Titania, queen of the fairies as she’s called. Or just Erza Scarlet. Many of
She’s a knight and a swordswoman. She’ll fight for the sake of morals and principles. On top of that, she’s also attractive and has a likeable personality.
20. Nami (One Piece)
Nami makes a lot of “physical” changes in the
She’s always been attractive from the beginning, but that elevates as time passes and the seasons evolve. And tons of fans are obsessed with Nami along with others like Nico Robin.
21. Kurumi Tokisaki (Date A Live)
This is a character who’s stood the test of time like others on this list. She’s liked to this day and is one of the more likeable Yanderes in the anime industry.
Kurumi has always had a crazy side to her personality which has changed over the seasons. She has the ability to stop time but in a traditional way. She has to shoot a person for it to have any effect.
22. Albedo (Overlord)
Albedo from Overlord is one of the most noticeable female characters and for good reason. She’s the character, the Yandere type who always sticks close to Ainz.
She herself is a SIMP who was obsessed and clingy with Ainz, and is willing to get violent just like Yuno Gasai.
There’s a bunch of SIMPS when it comes to Albedo’s character.
- Mirajane Strauss (Fairy Tail).
- Sakura Haruno (Naruto).
- Shoto Todoroki (My Hero Academia).
- Saber (Fate Stay Night).
- Wiz (Konosuba).
- Yuno Gasai (Mirrai Nikki).
