Anime Haters: This Is Why Anime Fans Get So Much Hate For No Good Reason

They say people hate what they don’t understand. And that’s true for the anime community.

The average person looking from the outside thinks anime is this perverted, Hentai, weird-obsessed community full of losers who have no taste.

That might be pushing it, but then again – I’ve seen enough to know it’s true.

The anime stereotypes don’t help either, and only work to spread false rumors of what the anime industry represents.

So why so much hate for the anime community?

While a small portion of the hate is “justified”, a lot of it is not.

It seems to come down to a couple of things I’ll get into, now.

Reasons Anime Fans Have So Many Haters:

1. Ignorance is a disease

The anime industry is the only part of the entertainment business with so many haters.

I can’t think of anything comparable, and it stems from plain ignorance.

One person says “anime fans are weebs”, and like lost little sheep with no idea what to believe, people “accept” those beliefs like a one-night stand.

Without questioning whether it’s a good idea or not to run with it.

This happened in the UK when a BBC journalist claimed “anime is for perverts” and all kinds of nonsense.

Anyone ignorant to the world of anime won’t have good first impressions after hearing a statement like that…

From the BBC no-less.

How to cure the disease of ignorance

If there was a way, I would have done it by now.

But the reality is: anime fans who are informed have the most influence to “convince” their friends why anime is worth watching.

And why it’s not as bad as the industry’s portrayed to be.

That’s mostly how anime fans come about these days. Through personal recommendations.

It’s hard to change and switch over to something that’s foreign, after all.

But as the years go by, this ignorance will die down. Little by little, courtesy of industry growth and influence among social circles.

2. The world is full of stupid people

Yeah I said it.

Stupid people.

Continuing from my last point, this isn’t just about anime or Manga… it’s more to do with ignorance and “sheep” mentality.

Here’s how the world works:

  • If everybody likes it, it makes you cool.
  • If you “like” something different, you’re automatically retarded. And you’ll get “hate” for it.

That’s generally how the world works. Bullying is proof of that. So are online trolls.

Anime and Manga happens to be one of those things not everyone likes.

And if you do like it? You deserve to be verbally abused!

Just take a look at these Google searches to prove my point.

First lets go to Google’s homepage…

google homepage

And now I’ll type: Anime is to see what “suggestions” show up…

anime is google search

Here are some suggestions:

  • Anime is trash.
  • Anime is bad.
  • Anime is a sin.
  • Anime is a mistake.
  • Anime is for losers.
  • Anime is for kids.

If I change the search to anime is for, you get:

  • Anime is for degenerates.
  • Anime is for weirdos.

You get the idea… It’s common to hate anime and jump on the bandwagon.

Why do people who enjoy manga and anime get so much hate?

Because when you’re ignorant and closed-minded, it’s “normal” to hate on those who are different from yourself.

Simply because you’re unable (or too lazy) to comprehend it.

3. Hidden agenda’s

When someone hates you for no good reason, and you’ve done nothing to provoke them… they have a hidden agenda.

In the case of the anime industry and anime haters, these hidden agenda’s relate to what a person hopes to get out of it.

A good example is the MMA fighter who claimed “anime is for losers” in 2018.

andrew tate anime hater

If anime is for losers – why go out of your way to talk about losers who you’re “apparently” better than?

What do you gain from it?

This is what I’m talking about. I’m guessing it’s an insecurity in his case, but whatever the reason: some people go out of their way to “hate” something to promote their own hidden agenda.

The anime industry is no exception.

4. Strength in numbers

Humans are no different to animals when they “band together” and share a common belief.

In this case a lot of anime haters are like wolves.

  • They have strength in numbers.
  • And so they attack anyone they can’t relate to.
  • Not to mention they do it in groups…. never alone (wolves are weak alone).

This goes back to point #2 about sheep mentality. Or crowd psychology as they call it.

An overwhelming amount of people, in business and life, shun anime for everything it stands for. And the number of haters only makes it seem like “the right thing to do” for those who are against it.

A brutal reminder from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid

I’ll finish this post with a conversation from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid.

This will make my point loud and clear:

Tohru: “They all seem the same to me.”

Kobayashi: “That’s the point. They all want the kids to wear the same things so they all look the same.”

Tohru: “why would they want that?”

Kobayashi: “So no one feels different. Boys, girls, new students. Everyone is supposed to be exactly the same as everyone else. It’s a big deal”

Tohru: “And what happens when you’re different from everyone else?”

Kobayashi: “They eliminate you. It sucks. I know it might be different for dragons, but humans aren’t that accepting of people who are different from them.”
