20+ Of The Most Memorable Anime Moments In 2023

2023 is getting ever closer to coming to an end for the anime community, industry, and life itself.

With so many memorable anime moments in 2023 from:

Shounen.
Slice of life.
Romance.
Fantasy.
Horror.

And other genres, let’s focus on some highlights worth mentioning

Here’s a list.

1. Miwa talking to Mechamaru flashback (Jujutsu Kaisen S2)

Miwa’s moments with Mechamaru are surprisingly more wholesome than they should have been, and more heartwarming than expected.

Seeing her conversations with Mechamaru brought life to his character, since in JJK S1 we didn’t get to see this element between the two.

Especially knowing Mechamaru is fighting so hard to protect everyone when going up against Mahito, the bastard.

2. Kana’s foolish thoughts about Aqua (Oshi No Ko)

This scene is hilarious because it shows just how savage Kana can be in the business. Of course, she’s being petty because of her relationship with Aqua at the time and how she feels.

She also doesn’t know the guy under the mask is actually Aqua until later.

3. Nezuko’s changes (Swordsmith arc D.S)

Not only is the battle intense, but once it all comes to an end, Nezuko goes through dramatic changes to add to all the drama going on.

And Tanjiro no longer has to worry about Nezuko getting burnt in the sun because of her new transformation.

4. Dark Gathering’s final episode (S1)

Ai has been through a lot in this series for obvious reasons, and Keitaro reassures her over the phone despite the carnage and the battle that’s about to go down.

This scene and the whole episode in general was a strong ending.

5. Goblin Slayer and friends checking out some ass (S2)

I’m half joking when I say that, but this episode was one of the deeper, thoughtful, and chill episodes of Goblin Slayer S2.

You get to see a more laid back version of Goblin Slayer who takes time to relax a bit, kick back, have important conversations with he boys, and think some things through while downing alcohol.

It’s underrated.

6. The introduction to The Kingdom Of Ruins

Say what you want about the anime, but the first episode was one of the STRONGEST episodes to come out of 2023. Or even for an anime ever made.

You truly do feel for the characters, the situation, the wholesomeness before it’s stripped away, and you connect with the circumstances.

7. Eminence In Shadow’s many moments (S2)

From shadow fighting the resurrected vampire girl who can heal FAST, to the final episode where a black hole occurs after Shadow’s battle with Ragnarok.

Or the in-between where Alpha thinks Shadow has abandoned her and she starts to feel lonely, to Delta “sniffing” out her boss.

S2 was good.

8. Akira meets Shizuka (Zom 100)

When they’re both in the convenience shop finding food to eat during the zombie apocalypse, a truck comes rushing towards the store and Shizuka essentially shields Akira as she can predict where the truck is going to crash.

They avoid death, and Akira becomes interested in Shizuka from that moment before they become acquainted.

9. Angeline meets her father again (S-Rank Musume)

S-Rank Musume was wholesome as F. It shows the positive side of fatherhood, how fatherhood impacts a daughter’s outlook and character, and so much more.

When Angeline finally gets to meet Belgrive again, her father, it’s a wholesome moment worth appreciating. Especially since she’s usually too caught up with adventurer work to do so.

10. Meeting the f*cking weeb Beatrix (Zom 100)

Zom 100 just can’t be denied for its fun atmosphere, content, comedy, and even wholesomeness among the sadder scenes in this strange horror series.

Meeting Beatrix the WEEB of the series was a comical moment no doubt.

11. Meeting the French f*cking weeb in Masamune Kun No Revenge S2

Masamune Kun No Revenge S2 was a good series. It wrapped up season 1 nicely and made a lot of improvements for me.

The first scene and introduction to what’s coming was good comedy which the anime is known for, and it sets the stage very well.

12. Mahito before defeating Mechamaru (JJK S2)

Mechamaru felt close to defeating Mahito, but as season 2 has proven, Mahito was a fucking beast who seemed to bounce back no matter who he was fighting or how vulnerable he seems in a fight.

Gojo being out of the picture gave him time to shine as a villain more than ever.

13. Shiori and Kuga admitted to dating (A Galaxy Next Door)

You can’t end 2023 without mentioning one of the most wholesome anime there ever was.

This anime was underrated in its own right. And it has no foolishness, fanservice, or any of that foolery to make the content better because it’s good as it is.

14. I’m Giving The Disgraced Noble Lady I Rescued A Crash Course In Naughtiness

While I hate the long title of this series, the anime turned out to be a whole lot better and more wholesome than expected.

The concept of teaching a gentle woman “naughtiness” when that translates to doing things that are just fun, was a good highlight and angle for the comedy in this series.

15. When the GOD shows up (Dark Gathering)

No one saw this coming. But when it did happen, it proved just how extremely powerful this God is compared to any of the dark spirits, ghosts, etc, are in this anime.

Everything is now about defeating this thing.

16. Zom 100 air hostess sad moments

Her speech to Akira before the shit hit the fan was tragic. This whole episode in zom 100 was one of the saddest in the anime despite many of the episodes being more comedic.

You really felt for these characters in these moments.

17. The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses moments

Mie-San as she’s called, and the male MC’s interactions were another wholesome part of 2023.

This anime was not only gorgeous and visually appealing, but it was entertaining and felt unique despite it being in the romance genre.

18. Rurouni Kenshin 2023 moments

Rurouni Kenshin 2023 was an underrated remake with much better visuals, fights, and all things in between.

Only the most critical will say this show didn’t do the original any justice.

19. Gojo and Geto with Rika fun moments (JJK S2)

When everything was all good back in the day, Gojo and Geto worked together to try and protect a girl called Rika.

In this scene, they’re seen clowning around, and it was one of the better moments in JJK despite it leaning towards the wholesome side of things.

20. The ending of Kingdom Of Ruins S1

The ending of Kingdom of Ruins was also one of its main highlights.

Clearly a 2nd season is needed considering what went down.

21. Heavenly Delusion funny moments

Maru jumped off a relatively tall drop after Kiriko said he could get a feel after retrieving something they dropped.

The issue is there is a beast down there waiting for them, but Maru escapes it after down a military roll across the floor.

22. Megumin and her little sister (Konosuba: An Explosion On This Wonderful World)

Megumin and her little sister’s conversation before she sets off to become an adventurer (before she ever meets Kazuma or Aqua) was a wholesome scene to witness.

The backstory in this anime for 2023 was absolutely necessary and Konosuba fans should watch it.

23. Out of context (I’m Giving The Disgraced Noble Lady I Rescued A Crash Course In Naughtiness)

The unique angle of this anime’s comedy was entertainment at its best.

If only the title could be shorter.

24. The introduction to the elf f*cking weeb (Otaku Elf)

Otaku Elf won’t be mentioned by many people in 2023, but I’ll do it. This anime deserves a mention for its relaxed atmosphere, comedic spin when it comes to history and telling stories of the Japanese Edo period and the elves.

Nothing flashy, just good entertainment.

25. Megumin being associated with a NEET (Konosuba)

Seeing Megumin play mental gymnastics while being all serious and in the end, dedicated is funny to see.

Her shame for being associated with this man becomes her motivation to succeed.

26. Gojo and Rika moments JJK S2

Not much needs to be said.

Underrated JJK moments.

27. Swordsmith arc victory

I don’t think too much of Demon Slayer apart from it being a decent (not great) series, but this moment was one of the highlights for me for a season that wasn’t top-tier in general.

It’s a good moment that’s worth recognizing though.
