The Girl I Like Forget Her Glasses was a manga adapted into a now-airing anime during the Summer of 2023.

This manga series was adapted relatively quickly compared to many similar series.

The premise is about Komura Kun, a student In school who likes Mie-San, the girl with glasses. But often times she forgets her glasses, and when she does, Komura gets to see a different side to her, depending on his love for Mie San.

The writing is wholesome and relaxed.

1. Ice Guy And The Cool Female Colleague

Ice Guy And The Cool Female Colleague wholesome

Fuyutsuki-San is the main female character, and Himuro is the ice guy. A character who is literally the descendant of an ice woman, so this anime does play around with fantasy aspects.

But it’s subtle and takes a backseat to the romance and slice of life/work episodes.

Fuyutsuki and Himuro become more interested the more they hang out and get to know each other as work colleagues, leading them to dates, going out, and having fun at various places.

But with Fuyutsuki being an introvert who’s stoic and Himuro being the blushy type, their relationship is anything but conventional.

2. Aharen Is Indecipherable

Aharen Is Indecipherable close

Similar to what you see with Mie-San in the anime The Girl I Like Forget Her GlassesAhren-San gets close and personal with Raidou Kun, but not in a romantic way.

Aharen has a quiet voice, and so she gets close to people when talking to let them know what she’s trying to say.

Raidou, on the other hand, is a male introvert who can exaggerate situations but always keeps his cool on the surface. Making them an odd but wholesome and diabetic pair that will spike your blood sugars.

3. When Will Ayumu Make His Move?

When Will Ayumu Make His Move blush cute

Ayumu promised himself he’d only confess to Urushi Yaotome when he beats her in a game of Shogi, which she’s an expert at. Until then, he keeps his feelings in check and does a good job of masking it most of the time.

Urushi picks up on this at times though Ayumu never admits it, and they both make for an entertaining, soon-to-be couple in a relaxed setting with NO fanservice or foolishness to stand in the way of the cleanly written story.

Shiina, or “angel” as she’s called, is the perfect girl everyone wishes they could have a chance with in school. This makes her distant from everyone, and while she plays the part, she never gets too close to anyone.

Always having her guard up.

Amane happens to live next door to her, and indirectly they start associating with each other, with Shiina making him food and dinner and even tidying up his mess in his house.

Of all the wholesome romance anime series ever made, The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten is high up there on a tier list.

5. Violet Evergarden

Violet Evergarden blue eyes aesthetics

Violet Evergarden isn’t exactly similar to The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glassesbut it does have aspects, elements, and especially visuals that are strongly related.

Violet is a victim of war as she was trained as a child soldier. In the present story, she works in the field of writing letters and helps her clients express themselves on paper to get their feelings out to those they love.

But can’t express it in words.

The emotional episodes feel longer than they should, and when the anime is wholesome, it stands out with aesthetics that only enhance the visual experience when you’re watching everything play out.

6. Today’s Menu for the Emiya Family

Todays Menu for the Emiya Family cooking

This is mainly for those who are familiar with the FATE series, but it can still work for those who haven’t watched the Fate series yet as a wholesome introduction series.

Shirou is the cook, Saber loves food and always has, plus she has the grand canyon for a stomach, and all the other characters add to the anime’s peaceful vibes.

It’s the perfect anime to help you relax, be at ease, and not put too much thought into it.

7. My Pet Girl Sakurasou

My Pet Girl Sakurasou moments

Another anime series with a main female character called Shiina, who is also blonde. The main male character becomes interested in Shiina, a foreign student, and the subtle romance starts to begin.

Shiina is stoic like Fuyutsuki San and isn’t the most expressive. She fits the role of a Kuudere.

The series resembles some features from The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses.

8. Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible

Kubo Wont Let Me Be Invisible iyashikei

Kubo is the main female character who seems to love and be interested in the seemingly plain male character.

Kubo is cheerful, optimistic, cute, positive, and isn’t one to harshly judge others at face value. And she smiles a lot, making her the perfectly cliche female character though that doesn’t affect the anime’s quality in a negative way.

It’s diabetes on steroids.

9. A Galaxy Next Door

A Galaxy Next Door wholesome couple

And the recently finished anime A Galaxy Next Door, which started before the Summer season, is a more grown-up, adult-style romance series.

Shiori Goshiki travels to Japan to become a mangaka, a dream she’s had for a short while after getting into manga so much.

She’s the typical blonde female character who loves Japanese products, but she’s more than just that. She’s diligent, hard-working, dedicated, and creative.

Kuga, the main male character, lives with his younger siblings after his father’s death. And he lives off royalties from real estate and makes a living from his work as a mangaka.

The two pair up to work together, but their real romance starts not long before they’re in an actual relationship and living together as a family.
