Goddess Aqua Big Eyes
Written by Harry Herry Ashley Jr

When it comes to comedy anime, It’s fully equipped with the latest brand name painkillers and antibiotics.

Although animation does not always allow for the same level of intricacy as live-action films, developers are given more freedom to exaggerate emotions and interactions

As a result, the medium lends itself perfectly to mockery.

Here we will tell you about some of the most excellent comedy anime shows that you should watch at least once.

This is the best list so you can watch these anime with no hesitation.

Keeping that in mind, this article may contain some mild spoilers.

1.  The Devil Is a Part-Timer!

The Devil Is a Part Timer funny scene e1626949159748

Based on light novels that are so good that I read them before the anime development animation was released.

It is generally recognized that going to McDonald’s is the finest method to bring some lofty notions about Good and Bad down to Earth.

That is what happens to Satan once he, together with the leader of his army and his greatest foe, descends into the contemporary Tokyo black hole.

They are imprisoned after attempting and failing to use their powers, and they find that the only way to achieve power in this world is to produce money — a good deduction — and rebuild the power base.

Satan tries to do it from behind the counter of a fast-food restaurant for satirical purposes.

2. Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei futon

Depression and pessimism? It doesn’t sound like a good combo, but sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei!

As suicidal as it may appear, this show truly kills with laughter! With its arsenal of clever gags and cast of individuals dealing with a variety of severe situations, this anime is depressingly wonderful!

Itoshiki Nozomu is a teacher, but he’s not like any other. He’s always miserable, always in despair, and constantly trying to take the easy way out!

But hold on. Nozomu has pupils with considerably more complex emotional and psychological baggage than he has….

It gets crazy.

3. Great Teacher Onizuka

Great Teacher Onizuka teacher blond

Great Teacher Onizuka is a satirical animation that pushes limits and subverts expectations with over-the-top humor.

It is one of the funniest peeks into the education system ever devised. The story follows Eikichi Onizuka, an ex-motorcycle gang member who aspires to be the greatest school teacher of all time.

The clumsy and sometimes sex-obsessed Onizuka obtains a position at a prestigious private school, where he encounters a variety of problems ranging from out-of-control pupils to devious professors.

The show’s star is the cheerful Onizuka, who both causes and fixes one disaster after another while teaching his students vital life lessons and values.

4. Detroit Metal City

Detroit Metal City anime

Detroit Metal City isn’t a mecha take on Detroit Become Human. Rather, the major emphasis of this anime is a death-metal indie band.

In terms of storyline, picture Hannah Montana, but darker, louder, and with more pelvic thrusts.

Johannes Krauser II, the main vocalist of Detroit Metal City, is an utter maniac whose furious live performances capture his metal-loving audience.

And yes, he plays the part of a Satan spawn on stage. In actuality, he is a soft-spoken college graduate who is just in the band for the money.

He isn’t even a big fan of metal! However, a man must do what a man must do.

FLCL series old school

FLCL is an unusual anime that fans may watch over and over again. It is one of the most ridiculous animes ever created.

The original series only consists of six episodes, but the animators and authors cram a lot into these quick-paced vignettes.

FLCL is a loose cannon that is equal parts anime satire and surreal craziness, barely maintaining a clear storyline but yet operating as a cohesive comedic sitcom.

The plot revolves around a little kid and his exploits in his tiny village following the arrival of a crazy extraterrestrial girl and the appearance of robots in his mind.

The jokes are so fast that viewers may need to watch it again to grasp every nugget of humor.

The graphics are really stunning.

6. Prison School

YouTube video

There are no words to describe Prison School. It belongs in its own category, which is NSFW.

To summarise the scenario, five immoral males are imprisoned for one month for spying on several girls taking a shower.

Somehow, after they were in prison, they became even more twisted.

The anime is like a boy’s locker room. There’s plenty of fanservice to go around, as well as sexual innuendo and fetishes in your face.

The show also addresses some of humanity’s most pressing issues. Such as whether boobs or butts are superior. The actual questions, you know.

7. Galaxy Angel

Galaxy Angel comedy series cover

The Angel Brigade of Galaxy Angel, brings in the chuckles and snickers while jumping on all sorts of cosmic, planetary, and space adventures!

As if space adventures weren’t creative enough, this program is filled with wackiness and humor at every turn.

A unit known simply as the Angel Brigade is charged with searching for the dispersed bits of Lost Technology in a specific colony in space far, far away.

The Angel Brigade, comprised of five eccentric individuals, embarks on space adventures with a smile on their faces. So, why not?

Every journey is an outlandish one!

The Lost Technology they’re working with has some peculiar and amusing characteristics.

8. The Pet Girl of Sakurasou

The Pet Girl of Sakurasou romance

Sorata is supposed to take control of Mashiro, a young man with exceptional creative abilities who is unable to do even the most basic daily duties.

Their interactions are bizarre and comedic, and their goals are unrivaled.

What distinguishes Sakurasu’s Pet Girl from other names, is they are both misfits with their own aspirations and dreams.

The audience is driven to cheer for all of them. The tensions and alliances they have with Sorata are masterfully handled and intertwined.

This anime is about a lot more than simply a relationship, and it’s really beautifully done.

Sakura’s Pet Girl is an excellent animation for all ages.

9. Daily Lives of High School Boys

Everything sounds a hundred times crazier and wackier now! Simply said, Daily Lives of High School Boys is about the amusements and folly of high school life—particularly high school life for boys!

Follow Tadakuni, Hidenori, Yoshitake, and the other lads through their regular high school life as they attempt to make every day as amazing as possible.

At Sanada North High School, there is never a boring moment. At every chance, the student body unleashes a burst of curiosity and pleasure.

Daily Lives of High School Boys gives a great high school life for everyone—an ultra-amusing and ultra-funny one.

From giddy themes to plain strange discussions, it has it all.

10. Gintama

Gintama episode 174 scene

Gintama, with over 350 episodes and counting, captivates viewers of all ages with its amusing perspectives and humorous events!

Everything is in it:

  • comedy
  • parody
  • weirdos
  • funny moments
  • crazy jokes
  • slapstick entertainment

And humorous wits.

11. Ghost Stories

Ghost Stories characters funny

In the realm of anime, Ghost Stories is an outlier. The original Japanese program depicts a group of youngsters who are attempting to safeguard their village from a swarm of evil spirits.

The English dub, on the other hand, alters the legal situation. The dub crew had few constraints and exploited them to their advantage, completely altering the speech and narrative to their liking.

They turned it into a knee-slapping comedy rather than a serious ghost hunting show.

The dubbed dialogue is hysterical, with dark comedy, pop culture references, and clever inside jokes.

Ghost Stories, by no means a standard anime, is a wicked entertaining trip for anybody searching for a “new” sort of animated comedy.

12. Silver Spoon

Silver Spoon anime screenshot

Expectations may either lift or tear people apart. That appears to be the case in the case of Yuugo Hachiken.

Yuugo, who is intelligent and hardworking, dislikes being compared to his older brother and seeks to escape his parents’ disapproval.

The kid, who has been lost in childhood, enrolls at the Agricultural School despite having no knowledge of farming.

In retrospect, entering a manual labor school to protest against his parents’ overwork may not have been the best option.

Gin no Saji, developed by A-1 Pictures, delivers on the animation front.

Despite the possibility of an unusual mood, the anime opts for a more realistic agricultural setting.

13. Maid Sama

In anime, novelty is a common topic. Maid-Sama! is an excellent example.

Two protagonists, Misaki and Takumi, are at the center of this romantic comedy, a young woman in a new all-boys school.

Misaki is a student council president. And she’s also working for her ailing mother at the maid’s café.

Takumi doesn’t share this with his peers as soon as he finds out. He keeps it to himself instead and starts visiting the café.

14. Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions

Love Chunibyo Other Delusions umbrella

Chunibyo, also known as a second-year syndrome, is a condition in which teenagers believe they have magical skills or belong to a mystical realm that does not exist.

Yuuta Togashi was a Chunibyo once, and he understands what it’s like to be teased constantly because of his sickness.

Nonetheless, he matures and even decides to enrol in a different school in the hopes of getting a fresh start.

When he meets another Chunibyo called Rikka Takanashi at his new school, he tries to assist her since he understands what she’s going through. But this, coupled with Rikka, transports him back to a series of humiliating situations.

15. Kiss Him, Not Me

Kiss Him Not Me image trailer

This show is reminiscent of a yaoi fangirl underdog narrative. Our protagonist, Kae Serinuma, has always been distinguished by two qualities.

Being overweight and want a little Yuri in your life, if you catch my drift.

However, one of those traits fades when Kae loses a lot of weight quickly. And, surprise, surprise, four males want to date her!

Her single character pillar, though, remains. So she keeps attempting to make the lads fall in love with each other instead.

Doesn’t the title make more sense now? I’ll let you fill in the blanks on what occurs when you try to transport lads who want to sail your yacht. It’s made of gold.

16. Space Dandy

Space Dandy series character 1

Space Dandy sounds like a cross between Cowboy Bebop and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.

We meet Dandy, a bounty hunter whose job it is to find aliens who deserve to be rewarded.

Right now, his job may be the least boring job on the planet. He’ll be witnessing top-action moments thanks to his cast of amusing people. It may not be traditional cowboy bebop, but it is a newer and more entertaining animation.

The actors and the designs are so good that you become completely involved in the picture.

The alien cat squad and the vacuum robot are the most amusing characters on this list. While there isn’t much character development planned, you won’t forget the series’ sheer quantity of comedy.

17. Konusuba

Konosuba squad 4 characters

I believe KonoSuba has one of the finest ensembles in anime. The main cast, especially Kazuma, Megumin, Aqua, and Darkness.

Their banter never ceases to amuse. And, despite the fact that several of the characters are very one-dimensional, the program manages to avoid being monotonous.

When it comes to humor, Kazuma in particular is a hidden gem. You can see the authors are having a good time with their lines.

The recurrent characters, who appear alongside the villains, are likewise good, never taking the stage for too long but remaining memorable.

My personal favorite episode is Kazuma’s struggle with Mitsurugi and the subsequent strength of his eerie hand motions.

18. Aggretsuko

Aggretsuko laptop scene

Consider the idea behind Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. Substitute Zoey with an anthropomorphic red panda in her twenties.

Next, replace her traditional Top 40 sound with death metal. As a consequence, the comedic anime Aggretsuko was born.

Retusko, 25, vents her workplace frustrations by signing death metal at a karaoke club.

After five years of trudging through each day, she makes a series of adjustments to improve her life, including a move to be married.

Retsuko, as in previous live-action comedy, has excellent pals who allow her to express her thoughts in a strange world where people tell her there’s no tea in their cup.

19. Nichijou: My Ordinary Life

nichijou My Ordinary Life anime

Nichijou, which translates to “My Ordinary Life,” tells the not-so-ordinary narrative of three high school students, Mio Naganohara, Yuuko Aioi, and Mai Minakami.

Starting with the three females, they will come across the brilliant girl Hakase Shinonome. That brings the total to four.

With Nano and Sakamoto, we have a total of six! And these six are essentially Nichijou!

The six main protagonists, as well as some others, will spend every day with good spirits and enthusiasm, whether they are following the path of normalcy or sprinting for the absurd!

20. Hetalia: Axis Powers

Hetalia Axis Powers anime series

If you have a World War II test coming up and need cute anime males to keep you awake at night, this is the anime to watch.

Hetalia takes human versions of global countries and forces them to reenact historical events in their own 5-minute skits that are more dialogue-rich than regular 20-minute programmes.

If you enjoy voice actors, J. Michael Tatum’s rendition of France will be just up your alley.

You should watch it if you’re a history buff or if you’ve seen the best Fruits Basket skits.

Other comedy anime:

  • My Bride Is A Mermaid.
  • Hyperdimension Neptunia.
  • Minami-Ke.
  • Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid.
  • Gamers.
  • Saiki K.
