Great Anime Shows Need A NEW Season From These Studios

Do These Anime Studios Have A Bad Habit Of NOT Making 2nd Seasons For Their Best Content?

Anime studios have bad habits because, after all, they are run by people who also have bad habits (not just good ones).

But specific anime studios are the ones who are in the habit of:

  • Not adapting successful anime series.
  • Refusing to create more content for said series.
  • And for whatever reason, never followed up despite the large fanbase.

Even the money aspect doesn’t seem to interest them with a 2nd season, etc.

Let’s talk about the worst anime studios when it comes to this subject.

1. Madhouse Studios

Madhouse Studios is one of the worst “offenders” when it comes to adapting content. In fact, you could argue that it’s the worst anime studio in this way.

Ironic because Madhouse is actually one of the greatest anime studios of all time, and that may play into why they don’t bother with new releases or 2nd seasons.

Shiro No Game No Life

Starting with the anime NO GAME NO LIFE, which is one of the most successful isekai anime series of all time, fans have been waiting forever for a new release.

In over 10+ years the best they’ve gotten is a movie release, but nothing more than that.

There are memes online fans have created about No Game No Life not having a 2nd season. Most fans will be long dead by the time it releases.

claymore girl

Claymore is another successful anime series that never got a 2nd season from Madhouse. This is in spite of the anime’s manga having more material to adapt, but Madhouse never bothered to do it over the many years since its release.

It’s an anime about Claire, a girl who becomes a claymore which is a soldier who is half human, half demon. She sees the woman she cared for slaughtered in front of her eyes, changing the course of her life forever.

It’s one of the best action anime series with a female lead and a female-focused storyline, plus the gore on top.

nana anime girls anime

The anime series NANA, a classic from the 2000s is another one in the can for Madhouse. They decided to leave it on a cliffhanger and haven’t pursued the anime ever since it “ended”.

The anime is about two girls called NANA who meet on the train to Tokyo, and both are coincidentally travelling there to start a new life. They also end up in the same building, living opposite each other.

Nana Osaki is a musician and is more mature, headstrong, etc. Nana Komatsu is the more naive, energetic, extroverted, smiley, and fearless girl who can also be childish.

nobuna

The Ambition Of Oda Nobuna is an anime series highlighting the history of Nobunaga, except they turn the real life historical figure into an anmie girl called Oda Nobuna.

She’s blonde, and the MC finds himself in another world right on her doorstep.

Aside from the few comedic details thrown into the story, it’s one of the best depictions as far as entertainment value and accuracy go.

The anime deserves a 2nd season, and yet received nothing in true Madhouse fashion. This in spite of the cliffhanger seen at the end of the first season as well.

This also happened with One Punch Man but in a different kind of way.

The anime’s first season was of course successful and popular. But after that instead of adapting a 2nd season themselves, they decided to give away the anime to another studio (J.C Staff).

This affected the 2nd season not because J.C Staff isn’t good (they’re doing well with the new Fairy Tail series), but because Madhouse Studios knows how to do One Punch Man better than anyone.

Still, this is a common occurrence with Madhouse Studios.

A rare anime managed to get a 2nd season from Madhouse and that anime wasn’t very well received, making their motives and intentions even more strange.

That anime was No Guns Life.

2. J.C. Staff

J.C. Staff, just like Madhouse, is a large studio with many anime under their belt. The most famous anime they have adapted and continued with new seasons are A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Scientific Railgun.

The former is one of the best selling light novels of all time.

But when it comes to their anime catalogue, many of their best anime have been ignored for far too long.

One anime that comes to mind without a 2nd season is Maid Sama! This is one of the most famous Shoujo anime ever made. It’s also one of J.C. Staff’s most popular shows.

The anime clearly has more to adapt and continue with, but nothing has ever come out after so many years since its release.

It’s also an anime many would like to see continued for its anime.

Nodame Cantabile is one of the better romance anime out there. But not one everyone knows about despite its quality.

The anime is about Nodame, a girl who is talented with the piano, and Shinichi, the guy she likes who can run an orchestra.

They both fall for each other eventually, thanks to Nodame’s persistence and presence.

The anime clearly needs a season 2 considering how it “ended” in season 1, but there have been no announcements or mentions of this anime ever getting this well deserved treatment.

Azumanga Daioh is one of the most influential slice of life anime series, especially in the “MOE” sense.

It is the reason you have anime like:

  • K-On.
  • Yuru Yuri.

And the dozens of anime that have been released since then.

It only has one season and in the current era of adapting new material from older anime, J.C Staff has no plans to do that or make a 2nd season.

It’s a shame considering it’s a good anime.

Shakugan No Shana became the catalyst for all the Tsnuderes you see in the industry and the influx of “dere” characters in general.

Shana, its main protagonist, made the voice actress famous and of course, the character became one of the “4 Tsundere Wonders” in the process.

Despite its massive success and its position as the top selling light novel of all time (one of many), J.C Staff still hasn’t made anything new ever since the anime series ended in the 3rd season.

This is in spite of the franchise (novel) still pumping out content long after the 2000s era.

In the end, these two anime studios are known for not making newer seasons for some of their best content, which extends well beyond what this list can cover.

Madhouse is especially a culprit of this to the highest level.
