Happy anime shows are some of the best anime shows. After all, the one thing that we all want is happiness, and to have time to relax, chill, kick back, and not have to stress.
The anime shows in this list evoke feelings just like this and more.
Many of these “happy” anime that will make you cheery include:
- Seinen.
- Shounen.
- Slice of life.
- Romance.
- Fantasy.
- Supernatural.
- Parody.
And plenty more.
Let’s get to it.
1. A Galaxy Next Door
Aired in 2023, this anime has Kudo, the male character who gets paid royalties from his manga career and receives residuals from his inherited property (his father died).
Then there’s his eventual girlfriend, Shiori Goshiki, a girl who is obsessed with manga and starts out as his assistant.
Their interactions will guarantee feelings of happiness and joy.
2. Drug Store in Another World
Similar to Beast Tamer, this anime isn’t gonna win the best anime of all time awards, but it’s an anime that will add to your happiness, cheery attitude, and will destress.
The MC is a pharmacist in the new world and makes his own potions, creams, and more for the people of this new world. He’s similar to Kazuma from Konosuba but only in appearance.
The fox girl is the MC’s assistant, and she plays a role in making this a happy anime.
3. Mitsuboshi Colors
Kids see the world differently. Put in the context of the anime’s title, they see the world in colours adults cannot. The same is true for the anime’s little main characters.
There are 3 girls who swear to protect the city and go around trying to do just that. So it’s from the perspective of these little girls which naturally makes this an anime that will make you happy.
It’s not a series you see recommended too much.
4. Tamako Market
Made by Kyoani, Tamako Market is purely wholesome, sweet, relaxed, and will give you some laughs along the way.
It’s only a short series but you can guarantee that happiness, relaxation, and cheery vibes are in the anime’s DNA. It’s designed to make viewers happy watching it.
Tamako Kitashirakawa is the main female character who is the daughter of a mochi shop owner, along with her younger sister Anzu who also works in the business when needed.
But then a strange talking bird shows up, which is the anime’s only strange element.
5. K-On
Yui Hirasawa is the star and the airhead of the show, with Ritsu Tainaka being her “fool” in crime.
Anzu is the one who holds others accountable, with Mio Akiyama being the serious but anxious and introverted character, plus Tsumugi the rich girl who makes everyone tea and cakes.
The setting is as daft as it sounds, but that’s why K-On with its plotless episodes is the happy kind of anime everyone can enjoy,
6. Love Live School Idol Project
Love Live the original is all about school idols. The 9 characters (and members) means there’s a lot of characters to expect and remember from this series.
Many are memorable, including Honoka Kousaka, the main girl who finds all the group members in the first place to form an idol group called U’s (muse).
It’s a typical anime but a good anime if you want something cheery and happy.
7. Minami-Ke
Many won’t know this anime but it deserves legendary status. It might be the funniest anime series of all time.
3 sisters live in the Minami household.
- Haruka Minami.
- Kana Minami.
- Chiaki Minami.
Haruka is the eldest. The other two fight, and Chiaki in particular is a savage.
Jokes aside, there’s no way you can’t watch this anime and not feel happy and cheery because of its hilarious vibes and comical setting.
8. Diary Of Our Days At The Breakwater
Diary Of Our Days At The Break Water is a nice slice of life series released in the 2020s. Hina is in a new town where fishing is common, but she’s no good at it.
She ends up meeting an old friend in this new town, and the two start chilling. Then Hina becomes part of a “group” she’s coerced into joining. But when all is said and done, it’s pure wholesomeness.
Anyone who lives near a lake or a seaside town (or likes these places) will enjoy the vibes in this series.
9. Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle
This anime has a fresh approach to comedy. The princess in the demon castle is captured, kidnapped, and apparently enslaved. But the princess doesn’t see it this way at all.
Syalis as she’s called enjoys it. She gets to sleep in bed, relax, do nothing, and lounge around. She finds creative ways to make her “life” in the demon castle more comfortable, fun, relaxing, and most of all, will do anything for a good night’s rest and sleep.
The demons aren’t cruel so they usually play along or never do anything that you’d expect from a cliche series, making this anime even funnier than it should be.
10. Is The Order A Rabbit?
Is The Order A Rabbit? Is a play on the fact Chiyo, the main female MC has a rabbit sitting on her head most of the time. And this rabbit is apparently her “grandpa”.
It’s a weird setup but the anime besides this feature has realistic elements like the girls working in cafes, running a business (nothing too deep), and things of that nature.
Cute girls doing cute things are naturally happy anime series.
11. Non Non Biyori
Non Non Biyori is the kind of anime you just can’t hate on. It’s about girls of varying ages in the countryside who live life, have fun, hang out, do silly shit, and enjoy the outdoors.
It’s realistic but relaxing and destressing.
Even the comedy isn’t exaggerated. It’s as pure as it gets.
12. Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead
Zom 100 is a surprisingly good and comedic horror anime that is shaking up the genre right now. Instead of the typical setting, things feel different and are fresh as far as horror vibes go.
Akira Tendo, the MC, forced himself to work his ass off despite hating his job and playing mental gymnastics to maintain his “fake” happiness.
After the world goes to shit and everyone from his company becomes a zombie, he by default is free to live his life and do whatever the F he wants. So he makes a list of things to do before he dies, essentially.
This anime does have its strangely sad moments, but it’s high energy, fun, and cheery as a general rule.
13. Gabriel Dropout
Gabriel Dropout is about angels and devils (or demons). They switch roles in some ways. For example, Satania is a devil whoa is evil but is more innocent than she seems.
On the other hand, angels like Gabriel can be the opposite when the situation calls for it.
It’s an irony you see a lot in this comedy/slice of life series in a fantasy setting.
A good happy, cheery anime to watch.
14. D-Frag
This is a parody series in the Seinen genre. It’s about the game creation club and its 5 members which include Kazama, the main character of the series.
Along with Roka Shibasaki, the little blonde girl who’s always using gaming references along with everyone else (except Takao, a secondary main character) who aren’t the main characters.
The manga has tons of material that needs to be adapted. The anime is only 12 episodes but will have you laughing all the way through.
15. Spy x Family
Anya Forger is the child of the show and the psychic. She’s adopted into the Loid family by Loid Forger himself, who is a spy and is using a faux name.
Then Yor Forger comes into the family, the wife, who Loid finds and is unexpectedly proposed to by Yor while literally escaping a “crime” scene of sorts.
This anime has its wild parts, and it’s action scenes, but most of all, the family aspect is what makes this a happy, cheerful, and de-stressor type of anime.
16. Tonikaku KAWAII
In the romance genre, Tonikaku KAWAII is one of the best there is. And for good reason. It’s full of sweet sugar, romance, and even diabetics can’t ignore its sweetness.
The male main character almost gets ISEKAI’D but is saved by a girl who should be dead by normal standards. That girl and him both get married, quite quickly, and the anime starts out from there.
Both Tsukasa (the girl) and Nasa (the boy) make this a happy anime all the way around.
17. Beast Tamer
Beast Tamer might not win the anime awards of the year or any other awards, but the anime does one thing well. And that’s make you happy and cheerful.
It’s a de-stressor type of anime filled with furry girls who are a mix of foxes, cats, dragons, and other creatures. With Rein, the silver haired MC being the guy who travels with them (after forming contracts).
It’s a simplistic anime that’s nice to watch.
18. If It’s For My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat A Demon Lord
If you want an anime that will make you happy and cheerful, not many can match this one.
Latina is a demon girl found in a first by herself by Dale, an adventurer who ironically kills demons if paid to do it. But he’s compelled to save this tiny little demon girl called Latina who’s lost her parents and family.
Dale adopts Latina and becomes her adopted father, hence the title of the series.
It’s a window into what a wholesome relationship looks like between father and daughter, and the kinds of things a father would do for their daughter through thick and thin.
19. Love, Chuunibyo, And Other Delusions
Chuunibyo is the kind of anime that is weird, strange, and a bit over the top at first. But as you get more into the series and get past the 5th episode, things start to shift a bit while keeping the same vibes.
It gets progressively more wholesome, comedic, romantic, and more of the same in those areas.
It’s an easy anime to watch for happiness.
20. The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses
Currently airing during Summer 2023, this anime takes the romance genre to a new level of wholesomeness never seen before.
This is no exaggeration.
The visuals as seen from the first episode are stunning, gorgeous, and with camera angles that are unique if not over the top at times (but still good).
Mae-San is the girl who forgets her glasses and has a different look which Kimura, the romantic interest, finds “cute” and is part of their many interactions with each other.
Which will spike your blood sugar no doubt.
21. Skip and Loafer
A 15 year old teenage girl called Mitsuri is seen talking on a video call as the anime starts. This same girl is a new high school girl in Tokyo, and is hyped for it.
Similar only in a sense to the anime NANA where the MC has high hopes of Tokyo, once Mitsumi reaches there the excitement dies down but is uplifted after meeting Shima, a key character in this happy jolly anime series.
Wholesomeness 100.
22. The Dangers in My Heart
The main character of this series is Kyoutaro Ichikawa. This anime starts out a LOT darker than is normal for what the anime is.
Kyoutaro wants to murder one of his classmates, a desire that seemingly pops out of nowhere. But then becomes attracted and interested in his female classmate to the point of friendship, wholesomeness, fun, and diabetes.
This anime flew under the radar during Spring 2023.
