You have anime characters who may dislike money because of what they see others doing with it (those with power for example).
But there are characters regardless of their circumstances or life upbringing who like money.
Or they simply see the value in having money, are money-driven, and know that making a lot of it will solve many of their problems (like poverty as an example).
Here’s a list that embodies these types of characters,
Let’s get started.
1. Ochaco Uraraka (My Hero Academia)
Ochaco Uraraka is an important character in the MHA series. One who’s main goal in the anime is to make money, a lot of it, so she can support her family who raised her well.
This pragmatic goal gains her instant respect from her peers whose goals can be a bit more flashy, selfish, or typical in terms of hero work.
Not only is Ochaco money driven while understanding the importance of money, but she’s also easygoing, non-judgmental, a loyal friend, and someone who works on their self improvement.
2. Krillin (Dragon Ball Z)
Krillin, believe it or not, used to be the guy who was more into martial arts, training, and the occasional “peep” thanks to Master Roshi when he was a kid.
But in all seriousness, Krillin aside from his role in the series which involves fighting and protecting the earth, is also a family man and one who isn’t afraid of putting in the work to make money and support his future.
Being the monk type of character, Krillin doesn’t have a shred of arrogance in him, and is about as humble as you can get with a character.
3. Lina Inverse (Slayers)
Nobody on this list is as money-driven as Lina Inverse you could debate. She’s not a pirate, but she can be seen as a thief.
More accurately, she’s an adventurer but not in a guild sense. She adventures around the world looking for treasures, similar to Frieren from Friren: Journey’s End.
A mage who fights bandits and anyone she sees as a threat and has enough power to overthrow the DBZ universe, depending on the spells she decides to use.
4. Mr Hercule (Dragon Ball Z)
Mr Hercule, also known as Satan is a character that might annoy some DBZ fans. He’s a craft bastard.
He manages to survive the most tragic events in DBZ, which is more just the parody element of his character, but he has legitimately saved the world in his own way as well.
Plus he’s money-driven no doubt. He likes money, has a lot of it, is a world champion, and has given his family, including Videl, a comfortable upbringing because of his business hustle.
5. Kraft Lawrence (Spice And Wolf)
Kraft Lawrence is basically a stock investor in the world of Spice And Wolf. He invests in stocks, he makes money, he takes risks, and he’s good at his job as a merchant.
Once he meets Holo The Wise Wolf, they both partner up and with her wisdom and perspective, they make even more money together and do better as a unit.
Of course, this also leads to romantic feelings and wholesome episodes as a result of the male and male bond.

6. Raku Ichijou’s mother (Nisekoi)
Ichijou is the main character of Nisekoi who ends up in a “fake love” relationship with Chitoge Kirisaki.
His mother is a businesswoman who makes a lot of money and has been in business for some years. But it’s also worth pointing out that Ichijou’s mother (and their family in general) are gangsters.
This is the reason her son and Chitoge decided to be in a relationship to calm down the aggression between their gang and a rival gang from Chitoge’s family.

7. Nagi (Akiba Maid War)
Nagi is the big boss of the Akiba Maid War series. The woman who runs shit, makes shit happen, I connected to one of the main characters and essentially gets people killed if needs be.

It goes without saying that she’s all about the money in the brutal underworld she’s part of.
8. Dutch (Black Lagoon)
Dutch is the leader of the lagoon company, a business dedicated to smuggling.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s people, drugs, guns, or other goods, if they can smuggle it they will.
One of the main characters called ROCK is one person who they smuggle and kidnap, and he decides to join the lagoon company in a twist of fate since he’s sick of the work and business life.
Dutch is usually calm, and chilled, but is always ready to lay the smackdown at a moments notice if needed (with guns and bullets).
9. Yuna (Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear)
Yuna in this Isekai anime similar to SAO invests in stocks and loves the stock market. This is how she makes her money and is able to live the life she does in a sky-high apartment.
She being the introvert she is tends to use her money for gaming, relaxing, and playing VR.
In her case, she ends up becoming a permanent part of the gaming world she plays games in, and there is no way to return after an event where she randomly ends up with a bear suit (which the title plays into).
10. Nabiki Tendo (Ranma 1/2)
Nabiki Tendo is one of 3 daughters in the Tendo family. She’s the mischievous daughter. One who is a rebel and doesn’t follow the rules or play by tradition.
Even if it means doing something dodgy or sly, she’ll do it if it means making money. She loves money and knows how to get it, even if it’s in small amounts at a time.
She’s basically the kind of kid who is interested in money and is figuring her way around getting it despite the methods used within her reach.
11. Halkara (I’ve Been Killing Slimes For 300+ Years)
Halkara is a blonde elf girl who shows up some episodes into the first season of this anime. While she appears to be an airhead who is on her own planet, she is actually a businesswoman.

Being a millionaire arms-dealing woman who’s easygoing but can “switch” to savage at a moment’s notice, she’s known, feared, and some are intent on taking her out of the picture altogether.
Koko is one of the best female protagonists who go unnoticed in 2024 and one who is all about the money.

13. Mendou (Urusei Yatsura)
Mendou is a clear money-making kinda guy. The type who is driven to make money, create businesses, come up with business ideas, and implement them.
This is partly because of his upbringing. Mendou is born into a wealthy family which forms part of his sometimes ridiculous personality (this is a parody series after all) or his peculiar ways of doing things.
He’s also one of the funniest characters in Urusei Yatsura, unintentionally.
14. Benno (Ascendance Of A Bookworm)
Benno is a businessman, straight up. He’s a laid-back, easygoing kind of person and businessman, but when it comes to business strictly he doesn’t like to mess around.
He won’t slack off, allow others around him to slack off, and will happily berate and point out another person’s actions if they’re not conducive to the overall goal.
He does this with Myne, the blue-haired girl who is also the anime’s main character.
Benno is a merchant and one who has done well for himself through hard work.
15. Tatsumi (Akame Ga Kill)
Tatsumi is the brown-haired male protagonist from Akame Ga Kill who we see showing off after defeating a danger beast, which is a high-ranking monster in the series.
After heading to the capital and seeing his world turn upside down, he joins the assassination group called Night Raid who show him the underbelly of how the world really works.
His only goal in joining this assassination group intent on starting a revolution and destroying the corrupt government is to make money so he can secure the future of his village.
That’s his new purpose in life or evolved purpose.
He lives by this and stays true to his goals.
16. Kanie (Amagi Brilliant Park)
Kanie is the guy who is not just a main character, but someone who is recruited to join a certain business to help save it from ruin.
It’s more accurate to say he’s threatened into doing it when the character Isuzu Sento points a gun in his face and pressures him into “doing the job”.
That aside, this is a funny, comedic anime series but it does have business aspects, financial aspects, and Kanie is the leader of the show when it comes to these aspects.
17. Myne (Ascendance Of A Bookworm)
Myne from Ascendance Of A Bookworm is a little girl (in the new world) after reincarnation. She was killed when a massive bookshelf fell on her, as the comedic story goes.
Being an obvious bookworm she has one goal in this new world: to indulge in her passion for reading, so she is committed to making money so she can fulfil her desires.
In this new world, only nobles get the privilege of reading books, and this is why she is money driven and also creatively driven to make products like hair creams, moisturizers, and more for her end goals.
She works with Benno and that’s where things take off in the right direction.
18. Saichi Tsugimoto (Golden Kamuy)
Saichi Sugimoto might not seem like the likely choice, but if you’ve watched Golden Kamuy you know just why he is a good choice.
He’s an ex military soldier just like many in the messed up world of Golden Kamuy. But what drives him now is money.
There is a supposed “pot of gold at the end of the rainbow” in so many words, and he’s out to get it knowing what it could do for his financial future.
He partners up with an AINU girl called Asirpa, who is also good at hunting, and the two become inseparable despite their goals being different but aligning where it matters.
19. Rally Vincent (Gunsmith Cats)
Rally is the owner of a gun shop in Chicago, USA. Not only this, but she is a bounty hunter as well.
Because of this, sometimes she has been targeted at her shop, or other locations she may used as hideouts. Her good friend is Minnie May Hopkins as she’s called (who is an expert in making bombs).
Rally is always on the go, making money, doing her thing, and ultimately caught up in drama given the environment, the work she does, and what it entails.
