Russel Brand is a well known comedian, celebrity, and unconventional thinker who shares a lot of his deducations, thoughts, and breakdowns of corruption in the mainstream media.

Let’s talk about some anime characters who share similarities with Russel Brand.
In the sense of:
- Personality.
- Characteristics.
- Behaviors.
- Ways of thinking.
And so on.
Here’s a list.
1. Glenn Radars (Rokudenashi)
Glenn Radars might not be an actual comedian in this fantasy anime, but he’s funny as F. And is the type of character who shares my level of sarcasm and childishness.
In this same way, Glenn has similarities with Russell Brand with his quick-witted comments, surprising intellect, and likeable sense of humour.
Glenn is also a personal favourite character of mine.
2. Soma Yukihira (Food Wars)
Soma is the guy who was raised in a restaurant/takeaway with his father, and later goes on to compete in food competitions to hone his skills. And pursue his goal of becoming a master chef.
While this anime might have fanservice for both genders, Soma’s personality, down-to-earth attitude, grounded mentality, drive, and extroversion can be compared to Russell in a lot of ways (the latter especially).
3. Subaru Natsuki (Re:Zero)
Subaru finds himself alive in a new world he’s unfamiliar with. Then down the line, he realizes he died and was reborn with the ability to “return by death”, each time to a game-like checkpoint.
He’s the type of extrovert with introvert qualities, is good in social situations, great at socializing and bringing people together, and has inner strength few characters could even hope to compare with.
It’s not surprising with the level of trauma and pain he has to overcome by force.
4. Osamu Dazai (Bungou Stray Dogs)
Dazai is a character. He’s the type of man who is hard to figure out, understand sometimes, or predict since he’s unpredictable by nature.
He’s obviously smart and witty, with some sarcasm and snark to go with his characteristics. But more than anything he’s the odd one out and can be considered weird for his unconventional behaviour at times.
Not a bad thing, but a good thing once you come to terms with it.
5. Usui Takumi (Maid Sama)
Usui is the ultimate troll character. The kind of guy who loves taking the piss, is sarcastic beyond words, knows how to push buttons, and has mastered the art of “tongue in cheek”.
The similarities between him and Russell Brand are clear.
He has purely good intentions and never does something nefarious or for illegitimate reasons. He’s sincere and can put up barriers at times.
Many anime characters today are modelled after his personality since he is from the most popular romance anime ever made.
6. Masamune Makabe (Masamune Kun No Revenge)
Masamune Makabe is the protagonist from the recently finished anime Masamune Kun No Revenge S2.
He’s out for revenge because a girl named Aki Adagaki, the evil witch (paraphrasing) betrayed and insulted him as a kid despite them being friends prior.
It hurt his feelings so deeply he eventually changed his weight (he was an overweight child) and became physically fit, with the goal of asking her out and then dumping her as vengeance.
While the plot has tons of twists and turns, and surprising reveals, Masamune is a good-natured person, funnier than most, and is witty as anything.
Underrated anime character no doubt.
7. All Might (My Hero Academia)
All Might is the seemingly cringey superhero type of character in MHA, at least that’s how he appears to be. Until you realize who he really is behind the veil, his purpose, his history, where his heart is at, and so on.
He’s the symbol of peace in MHA, but it’s all genuine without any BS.
He can talk a lot and is a master at the art of conversation and making people feel at ease.
8. Tanjiro Kamado (Demon Slayer)
And lastly is Tanjiro Kamado, the kindest anime character there may be in the industry. He has pure intentions, smiles a lot, even in the worst moments, and has so much compassion and empathy that it’s shocking.
This is a lot like what’s been seen of Russell Brand over the years, exaggerations aside.
After losing his family, Tanjiro commits himself to supporting his one and only sister who’s left behind with him. And they form an unbreakable sibling relationship that is both wholesome and rare to see written so well.
