Laid back anime characters are the type of people who are:
- Chilled.
- Not easily angered.
- Don’t get bent out of shape too often.
- Are easygoing.
- Easy to get along with.
- Relaxed and calm.
- Unbothered compared to most.
This is something I know intimately since I myself am a laid back kinda guy. The most laid back person you’ll ever meet.
Let’s make a list.
Best laid back anime characters:
1. Yu Koito (Bloom Into You)
Yu is the seemingly “straight” girl of the series in Bloom Into You. The student council president fancies her, and at first, Yu doesn’t mind it. She’s more curious than anything but doesn’t reciprocate any feelings.
This changes later on as things evolve.
As a character, Yu is laid back, indifferent, isn’t excited by most things, and it takes a lot to get her interested in the average things that most people “seem” into.
She’s different and only truly feels compelled when she’s passionate about something.
2. Sukuna (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Sukuna might be laid back because he’s so powerful, or he may be laid back because that’s just his nature. Either way, even when faced with a powerful opponent like the one Megumi summoned in S2, Sukuna is chilled.
He’s unphased and indifferent most of the time, but gets excited at the thought of battling something he considers “worthy”.
That all aside, Sukuna is evil without question.
3. Shunsui Kyoraku (Bleach)
Shunsui was always the laid back soul reaper of
When Shunsui gets serious, he’s a dangerous man who most opponents would not want to face off with in a fight.
He is one of the strongest soul reaper captains there is after all.
4. Elda (Otaku Elf)
Elda is an Otaku and an elf. She stays in her room playing
After living for 100s upon 100s of years, she’s seen so much change in Japan and going outside noticing those changes is the thing that scares her from stepping outside in the first place.
Plus the fact that as an elf, she says many human friends die while she continues to live.
Elda is laid back as can be, has some form of social anxiety, is introverted, but is kind, gentle, and has a big heart.
5. Shikamaru Nara (Naruto)
Nara is defined by the fact he’s so laid back, especially early on in the Naruto series. He’s so chilled to the extreme that he isn’t motivated to do too much.
It’s not a depression issue, only that he’s highly intelligent and isn’t stimulated by just “doing” stuff for the sake of it.
Shikamaru Nara is loyal to death.
6. Gray Fullbuster (Fairy Tail)
Gray Fullbuster is an anime character who uniquely wears no top because of the way his master trained him when learning and forming his ice powers.
He’s become so adapted to the cold and made such a habit of wearing no top that it’s normal.
Gray is a laid back guy and one of the safest guys you could ever have as a friend. He’s not with the bullshit, and despite being laid back, he has that lion in him for those who push their luck.
7. Gojo Wakana (My Dress Up Darling)
Gojo Wakana is the male MC of My Dress Up Darling and one of the love interests of the series. He’s a tall character, laid back, knows how to build things thanks to his Grandpa, and is in the business of making dolls.
Sometimes Gojo is too laid back to the point of letting people have their way with him in a sense, which Marin, the female MC defends.
He’s also one of many characters who wears a white shirt.
8. Belgrieve (My Daughter Left The Nest And Returned An S-Rank Adventurer)
Belgrieve is the father of Angeline in this anime and is part of the anime’s title essentially.
He has red hair, is tall, and is referred to as “red Ogre” because of his daughter who innocently tells everyone that’s her father’s name.
He’s one of the more laid back characters in the anime and one of the most logical and thoughtful of the series.
He’s not swayed by persuasion, love,
Belgrieve is solid in his morals, ethics, stances, and beliefs.
9. Yayoi Chan (Dark Gathering)
Yayoi is the main female character AND main character of the series besides Keitaro. She’s on a mission to get revenge against a type of spirit that killed her mother.
That tragedy has shaped her life forever, and despite only being a kid, she’s cool, calm, and collected, and uses her trauma to strategize, come up with ideas, and create a plan of action while remaining dangerously calm and chilled about it.
10. High Elf Archer (Goblin Slayer)
High Elf Archer is one of the favourite characters from Goblin Slayer for a reason. She’s pretty, has a certain esthetic to her character, has green hair, is an elf, and has a top personality.
It’s safe to say without her involvement the conversations wouldn’t be as entertaining if she weren’t there.
11. Neptune (Hyperdimension Neptunia)
Neptune, also known as “Nep Nep” is the most laid back anime character there is. He’s easy going, foolish, rebellious, not one to follow the rules, and is always so chilled about life.
Nep is also one of the funniest characters who’s always making a joke out of everything, or trying to dodge the serious of situations he may find himself in.
12. Toji (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Toji is a laid back villain and a guy who always seems to be smiling when he’s fighting or about to. Even at times when he’s about to lose or he could die, he’s still managing to smile and seems like he enjoys himself without regrets.
This partially speaks to his laid back attitude and the attitude of accepting whatever comes his way without getting overly emotional or hysterical when shit hits the fan.
13. Eureka (Eureka Seven)
Eureka with the green hair is a fairly small girl with a unique set of clothes. She’s the main love interest of the Eureka Seven series.
Her past is tragic, and the things she did in her past she comes to regret deeply. On the surface, she’s laid back, cold, unemotional, and unbothered by most things.
She’s a tough nut to crack as the saying goes.
14. Khamsin (Shakugan No Shana)
Khamsin is one of the oldest Flame Haze in this series and others refer to him as “old man” despite him looking like a child.
As a Flame Haze, once you enter into a contract with a Crimson Lord (demon) you stop ageing.
Khamsin is chilled, laid back, respectful, and isn’t one to try to agitate or antagonize others. He’s concise with his words when talking.
15. HIT (Dragon Ball Super)
HIT the assassin in
He doesn’t mess around.
It’s not until he meets Goku that he starts to lighten his mood slightly and smile, mostly while in battle and discovering he’s able to surpass his current strength.
16. Shinobu Kocho (Demon Slayer)
Shinobu Kocho is the silent Hashira who doesn’t say too much and has a mysterious aura about her as we see in the first season of
Clearly powerful,
17. Glenn Radars (Rokudenashi)
Glenn is the type of laid back guy who isn’t taken seriously by others, and sometimes people find it hard to believe him because he’s so sarcastic.
He has fun, does what he wants, lives life on his own terms, and doesn’t follow the rules at all. A rebel at heart.
When it tries and gets serious, he’s capable of greatness both with his magic ability and with his skills in teaching students and motivating others.
18. Anessa (My Daughter Left The Nest And Returned An S-Rank Adventurer)
Anessa is one of the friends of Angeline, the female MC of the series. She shows up often as she’s one of the three relevant characters and all 3 of them are in the S-rank and tripe AAA ranking category of adventurers.
Anessa’s personality is that of a woman who’s chilled, laid back, and doesn’t go out of her way to cause trouble. But she’s capable and more than able to fight and lay out the rules if anybody crosses the line.
She’s gentle but can be serious at the same time.
19. Allen Crawford (I’m Giving The Disgraced Noble Lady I Rescued A Crash Course In Naughtiness)
Allen is also known as “demon lord” in the anime, but he’s really a human being with exceptional magical skills and abilities, making the nickname stick.
He lives in a big ass mansion by himself and studies magic and things that catch his interest, and also sells his own products to make a living.
Once he meets Charlotte, he dedicates part of his life to teaching her all the “naughty” things in the world, meaning things that are fun and enjoyable because they’re things you’re not “supposed” to do.
