What defines a calm anime character?
Here’s what I say:
- It’s almost impossible to make them angry or furious (within reason).
- They’re great in high pressure situations.
- Being around them is relaxing and puts you at ease.
- Always easy-going.
- They’re level-headed and easy to deal with in general.
Calm anime characters are sometimes strategic and have good leadership skills too.
So with those definitions laid out, here are some male and female characters worth mentioning.
The Most Chilled Anime Characters:
1. Tami Nishimikado (Hanayamata)
Being around Tami is like sitting by the ocean in the evening. She’s calm, cool, chilled and the complete opposite of aggressive.
Even when people are being difficult or negative, Tami’s calm nature doesn’t break in the slightest.
That’s what makes her a likable character, as she’s able to settle conflicts between people and put them at ease with her natural charm.
2. Archer (Fate Stay Night)
Archer is a lot like Byakuya Kuchiki, except Archer is more talkative and expressive in comparison.
He’s the type to speak his mind without holding back, no matter how harsh or straightforward.
And in difficult situations, Archer never loses his cool. Always staying on top of his challenges and remaining focused on what needs to be done.
3. Piccolo (Dragon Ball Z)
Piccolo is introverted by nature, and it takes a LOT to get his blood boiling (make him angry).
Even when he’s overwhelmed in a fight, or when the situation is gruesome, Piccolo stands tall and keeps a level head without being overwhelmed by the pressure.
And in general he’s a pretty chilled guy.
4. Kanna Makino (Tamako Market)
Kanna Makino isn’t phased by much, making her one of the more “easy-going” characters in anime.
She’s easy to be around because her calm personality and chilled persona.

5. Ririko Oribe (Sakura Quest)
Ririko Oribe is quiet, but not shy. She has no problem at all when it comes to socializing and communication.
And she’s surprisingly intelligent (because she reads a lot).
Most of the time she’s chilled and relaxed, and it takes a lot for Ririko to stress out in almost any situation.
6. Soma Yukihira (Food Wars)
Soma Yukihira is the definition of confidence without being arrogant or big-headed.
Instead of losing his cool or screaming and shouting when someone insults him, he bounces back with a positive attitude and optimism.
That’s what makes it so hard to dislike Soma. He’s so chilled about everything that his personality tends to rub off on others.
Turning enemies into friends and friends into “closer” friends.
