MAPPA studios is an anime studio that’s been making some solid shows as the years go by.
It’s now famously known as the studio that took over Attack On Titan, which was previously being done by WIT studios.
With some definite bangers under their belt, let’s get into a list of anime worth shouting out from their catalog.
Genre’s include:
- Fantasy.
- Action.
- Sports.
- Mystery.
- Psychological.
And other genres that pair well.
Best anime from MAPPA studios:
1. The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace
The Idaten Deities Know Only Peaceis an anime that was underrated in 2021. And was easily one of the best written shows.
Made by MAPPA studios, they as a studio were killing it in 2021.
Idaten Deities is about Gods who live in peace after defeating the demon race 100’s of years ago. But now a new type of demon is emerging, threatening their peaceful lives.
Rin, the strongest Deity has stood guard for 100’s of years, and as the strongest is now training Hayato, one of the latest deities with tons of potential like Rin.
The plot twists, the OP protagonists, colorful art style and well designed battles are gorgeous.
2. Terror In Resonance
Terror In Resonance is a mystery style anime with some deep psychological elements and of course, plot twists that build up overtime.
It’s not the kind of anime that starts out fast, so be patient.
It’s about characters Nine and Twelve. Their names alone make them curious characters and it plays into their backstories.
In the first episode they commit a so called terrorist attack, but it’s more of a means to draw attention to themselves and no one is killed.
The more you watch, the more you start to understand and even empathize with the situation.
3. Kakegurui
Kakegurui is an anime that stands out in obvious ways, and it has some solid art styles to back it up visually.
It’s an anime about gambling in school, in a nutshell. The stakes are high as usual with gambling, but here it’s even worse.
In this school if you lose to someone in a gambling match, you’re not just in debt to them, but they can make you do whatever they want.
Players fear this element because of what it means, but Yumeko Jabami is a unique one who gets a thrill out of it. And she doesn’t punish those she defeats in the way a normal player would.
She alone carries the series and makes it what it is.
4. In This Corner of the World
In This Corner Of The World is s Seinen anime movie with historical elements and vibes. It’s almost 3 hours long.
Suzu, the main character, is a bit of an artist who loves to draw, and she helps her grandma with her food business selling seaweed (Nori).
It’s all fun and games until she goes off to marry a guy she hardly knows (once she grows up), and things change drastically.
War, violence, being under attack, these are real threats to Suzu’s life now, and she has to adjust to what’s happening around her.
This also has an effect on Suzu’s relationship.
5. Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the killer anime to be released in 2021. And is now one of the best Shounen of recent times.
It’s about Yuji Itadori, a slightly odd but tall teenager who is interested in the supernatural along with his friends and their occultic group.
Something goes wrong and a real demon is summoned, almost killing Yuji’s friends. Yuji himself swallows a demon finger and it becomes a part of his body, similar to Yugi’s spirit in Yugioh.
For a shounen this is a violent series. In fact you could pass it off a horror for its style of violence.
The anime is inspired by Bleach, and has a very similar world to it in terms of spirits, how they work, and the “task force” that sets out to destroy them.

6. Attack On Titan: The Final Season
Attack On Titan: The Final Season, and AOT in general doesn’t need an introduction. Hardly.
The previous Attack On Titan anime shows were done by WIT studios, and the art style warmed on fans. In the final season MAPPA took over, and things have changed visually.
The quality has been maintained in spite of controversy and social media b*tching, and the anime will go down in history as a whole.
It feels like a horror even though it isn’t. The latest AOT Part 2 is also by MAPPA.
7. Takt OP. Destiny
Takt OP. Destiny is another anime deserving of appreciation and credit from 2021. It took a unique approach to action and music.
As a supernatural anime, Takt OP. Destiny is about Musicarts. They’re weapons designed to deal with monsters called D2.
Musicarts are paired with conductors who are able to summon and use their power.
As demonstrated by the first and 2nd episode, the visuals are out of this world, and it’s easily one of the most gorgeous looking anime of the decade.
Watching Takt OP. Destiny feels so realistic and it’s hard not to enjoy many of the moments happening on screen,

8. Hajime No Ippo
Hajime No Ippo is an anime about boxing, and the sport of it. It’s one of those anime that are underrated and has the reputation to back it up.
Ippo, similar to Kenichi from Kenichi The Mightiest Disciple, is weak and cowardly. He’s not the strongest by any stretch of the imagination.
It’s once he gets into boxing and realizes what it can do for him, that his life changes and he’s able to defend himself and not become a victim.
This anime is about Ippo’s growth as a person, and his journey as he rises up the ranks, takes part in boxing, and makes something of himself and his life.
Other anime shows by MAPPA:
