It’s almost March 2025 and the year is officially underway. Anime Motivation, as usual, is covering the the most popular countries in the world that love anime more than most.
When we started in 2016, the Philippines was #1. But nowadays, other countries have come to take the throne but the Philippines is still a significant country for its anime fanbase.
This year’s stats, like previous years, continue to surprise me with the new additions of countries (some much smaller) becoming major hubs for anime.
Let’s talk about it.

UPDATED list in real-time 2025:
What this list tells you is a few things:
- Jamaica was one of the top countries in 2024, but this is no longer the case even in the top 30 for 2025.
- Maybe there was a short-term trend in Jamaica with anime?
- South American countries have always been on the rise, and in 2025 many of these countries have jumped further up the list to higher positions.
- Malaysia, in particular, has JUMPED from #16 to #10, making it officially a top 10 country in 2025 for anime lovers.
- Algeria is a new addition to the list, specifically for the honourable mentions section (top 30).The
- Philippines is now a #6 country instead of top #5.
- Mongolia and Bolivia, for whatever reason, continue to dominate just like they have in 2024 and recent years.
- Many from these countries are seeking out anime at an exponential rate.
In 2016 this was never the case for places like Jamaica or Georgia (2024), or even Algeria in 2025 and especially Mongolia or Bolivia. but it shows how time can change things and how anime has obviously grown over the years to reach this point.
