10+ Anime Like Heavenly Delusion (Recommended)

Heavenly Delusion  is a manga-adapted anime series, now airing from April 1st 2023 (April fool’s day).

The anime explores a world where kids are raised inside “nurseries” where they learn curriculums in a school setting and are protected from the outside world.

The “outside” is full of monsters, creatures, and can be compared to a desert since there isn’t much out there, especially as far as protection against these monsters.

Maru and Kiruko are the main characters searching for something called “Heaven” but have yet to reach their destination, and they’re unique since they live on the outside, surviving day to day.

Here’s a list of anime shows like Heavenly Delusion worth watching.

1. Kino’s Journey: The Beautiful World

Kinos Journey The Beautiful World

Kino is an anime about travelling, adventures, and what the main character Kino learns along her journey. She travels to villages, towns, cities, countries, and stays around for 3 days.

She claims this helps her get the “full” experience without getting too comfortable.

There’s even an element of violence to this series and small pockets of action where it counts. Each episode is different, and you take something away from all of them.

The travelling and searching aspect is similar to Heavenly Delusion.

2. A Certain Scientific Railgun

Mikoto Misaka and many other characters in this anime are espers. In Academy City, there are millions of espers which is what attracts people to this city in the first place.

You do have characters whose power is so low they’re no different from humans, like Ruiko Saten or Uiharu Kazari who are support characters.

Though not classed as a mystery anime like Heavenly Delusion, mysterious elements are happening in the anime, both are sci-fi and have a good amount of action and fight scenes.

3. The Promised Neverland

The Promised Neverland horror

Though this anime flopped when the 2nd season dropped, the first season sparked a lot of interest and some still got through the 2nd season in spite of it.

This anime is about children who find themselves being raised in a “child farm” of sorts. This becomes clear by the end of the first episode when they learn the purpose of their lives and what they’re being raised for.

It’s an anime that does make you think, it has psychological elements, and the characters are trying to survive which forces them to work together. And most of all, the method of raising children in this anime is similar to Heavenly Delusion.

4. Talentless Nana

Talentless Nana supernatural anime

Imagine being dropped onto a random island out at sea, with no one nearby as far as you know it. You have supernatural powers, and are told your mission is to become strong enough to defeat “the enemies of humanity”.

This is the plot of Talentless Nana. Teenagers are being trained to become stronger, but the reality is a lot different to what they bargained for.

It’s sinister, cunning, deceptive, and it’s all based on one anime girl with pink hair who seems kinder and more pleasant than she is.

There are some definite crossovers between Talentless Nana and Heavenly Delusion.

5. Made In Abyss

Made In Abyss trio characters

The adventure aspect in Made In Abyss is the closest similarity to Heavenly Delusion. The anime starts out bright and cheery, with the main characters wanting to explore the depths of the abyss to discover new treasures.

The further they go down, the more mysterious, uncomfortable, dangerous, and teeth-biting it gets. With even the possibility of death being on the agenda.

6. Black Bullet

The Gastrea, a type of monster that almost destroys Tokyo (a level 5 Gastrea) is the biggest threat in Black Bullet. But they’re rare creatures that don’t show up too often.

They almost kill the main character in his backstory, leaving him with an artificial arm made out of Viranium. His gun shoots black bullets, which are also made of Viranium, specialized to kill Gastrea.

Rentaro Satome (the MC who uses this gun) has a partner called Enju Aihara, who is half human, half Gastrea, giving her and similar kids the name “cursed children”.

The duo relationship the anime’s got going on is similar to Heavenly Delusion.

7. Scrapped Princess

Scrapped Princess cover trio family 1

Pacifica Casul, the main female character is being targeted for the fact she is the scrapped princess. As the name literally implies, she’s a princess who was scrapped (thrown away with intent to kill) because of her supposed curse.

If she reaches 16 years of age, the world will be destroyed so they say.

Her adopted brother and sister travel, live and protect her by choice. And their family relationship is one of the most wholesome aspects of this show.

The adventures and the travelling is a huge part of this series’ appeal.

8. Trigun

Trigun vash gun

Vash The Stampede carries a particular gun with him wherever he goes, and is in search of something. Not too different to Maru and Kiruko in Heavenly Delusion.

Vash is a class clown, a fool, someone who’s sarcastic and likes to make people laugh, and he uses this to hide his true intentions or how he really feels.

He’s usually seen travelling alone, but he finds a partner of sorts to complement his journey.

9. God Eater

god eater anime lenka

The world is full of monsters called Arigami. The outside world is unsafe in every way, and yet many people are forced to survive in this environment without protection either because they’re poor, have been rejected by higher powers, or because they’re unfortunate.

Lenka Itsugi is the MC who swears to destroy the Arigami, but he learns the hard way that it will take more than passion and anger to achieve this goal in a way that’s realistic and practical.

The visuals of this anime are through the roof and beyond. Nothing comes close to its attention to detail.

10. Vivy Fluorite Eye’s Song

Vivy Fluorite Eyes Song artificial intelligence

Vivy is the name of the blue-haired female character of the series. She’s artificial intelligence. Her mission is to sing for people and make them happy.

After a robot from the future informs her of upcoming danger, she changes her plans slightly and they work together to prevent a future where artificial intelligence takes over from happening.

This sci-fi anime might be the best-looking one out there. The visuals have no comparison, and the artwork is in its own league. The anime is just as good as it looks as well, with some surprisingly good action scenes.
