shinji fate scared face karma

19+ Anime Characters Who Got What They Deserved (Karma)

Like real life, anime characters get what they deserve or receive their fair share of karma for doing wrong.

That can mean:

  • A business deal going very bad.
  • Being killed after murdering tons of people for the pleasure of it.
  • Being traumatized after spending their life traumatizing others.
  • Being punched in the face for bullying others.
  • Getting a taste of their own medicine.

And so on.

Some of the characters in this list:

  • Learned from their mistakes.
  • Made a better life by improving upon their flaws.
  • Acknowledged their wrongdoings.

Despite getting what they asked for or deserved (but not all).

Here’s a list.

1. Mami Nanami (Rent A Girlfriend)

Mami Nanami Rent A Girlfriend visual e1693525097730

Mami Nanami is a b*tch, plain and simple. She showed that at the beginning of the first season when she dumped Kazuya for the f*ck of it.

After Kazuya wallows in depression then eventually finds Chizuru by renting her out, Mami shows up jealous and tries to ruin things, unsuccessfully.

Essentially, Mami gets her fair share for her petty actions, dismissive attitude, and controlling behaviour.

2. Shoya Ishida (A Silent Voice)

Shoya Ishida A Silent Voice

Shoya is the guy who bullied the main character at the beginning of the movie. The girl in question is disabled and has hearing problems (deaf).

Later in life, Shoya starts to feel major regret for his actions. Also, he struggles with anxiety, stress, and much more.

Luckily in his case, he decides to change for the better and becomes an improved version of himself.

3. Elsa Granhiert (Re:Zero)

Elsa Granhiert ReZero savage

Elsa Granhiert is a villain and a major one from the Re:Zero series from seasons 1 and 2, the latter where she shows up even more ruthless than ever.

She’s a killer, straight up. She goes for the stomach, giving her the name “bowel hunter”. Who knows how many she’s killed behind the scenes.

After the big fight in season 2, she sort of gets her karma though it’s hard to believe she’s actually dead.

4.  Norn (Redo Of Healer)

Norn Redo Of Healer jioral

The sister of Flare (or Freiya) from Redo Of Healer. Norn is even more savage and brutal than her older sister. And Norn is a lot smarter and is a good strategist.

So much so that Keyaru fears coming across her too early without planning ahead. But in the end, Norn gets her karma for all the evils she’s done on behalf of the Jioral Kingdom and her own personal, sadistic actions.

The last few episodes paint that picture brutally.

5. Myne (The Rising Of The Shield Hero)

Myne The Rising Of The Shield Hero 2019

This b*tch (as she’s later called) falsely accuses the man who reincarnates into a new world against his own will. That man being Naofumi Iwatani.

After being banished by the world, Myne lays it on extra thick by trying to hunt Naofumi down and make his life even more miserable.

Of course, in the end, it backfires and she gets her karma. She plays the victim card pretty hard as well.

6. Goddess Aqua (Konosuba)

Goddess Aqua Konosuba eyes funny e1693513200165

This is more of a hilarious “got what they deserved” story. Goddess Aqua is arrogant, cocky, and has an attitude of a Goddess who has all the power in the world to do what she wants.

This is true when Kazuma first spawns in the world where his “life” gets decided after death. She disrespects Kazuma to the extreme. But Kazuma’s wish changes Aqua’s life forever, forcing her to go down to the lower world with him.

And of course – Aqua loses most of her power by doing so.

It’s a petty revenge story on Kazuma’s part, but also a funny way to kick off the anime.

7. Overhaul (My Hero Academia)

Overhaul My Hero Academia villain

Overhaul is a savage, was a savage, that made the little girl called Eri anxious, stressed, and traumatized at a young age. He used her for his own gain because of her special quirk, etc.

After the big fight with Deku who is ironically helped by Eri, Overhaul is defeated and unfortunately for him, The League of Villains shows up while he’s down and takes both of his arms.

Not before Shigaraki uses his quirk of decay to set the record of pain for Overhaul.

8. Bakugo Katsuki (My Hero Academia)

Bakugo Katsuki My Hero Academia smiling

Bakugo might not seem like a guy who gets what he deserves but he does. Just not in a brutal fashion.

He bullies DEKU, the main introverted character, and throws his weight around with people in general like he’s God’s gift. But after enrolling in UA Academy, he gets humbled more times than you can count.

Not just by DEKU who ends up with his own quirk, but by others, and the situations Bakugo finds himself in despite running his mouth.

Still, Bakugo’s journey and character have always been interesting for these reasons.

9. Blade (Redo Of Healer)

Blade Redo Of Healer ep 11

Blade from Redo Of Healer is a woman who looks and dresses like a man, but despises men and has a sickly hatred for the male species.

She goes around towns, finds women she likes, gets them hooked on drugs or alcohol, and then r*pes them for her own pleasure.

Keeping up with the trend of sickness in Redo Of Healer, Blade gets her karma in the worst way imaginable.

It’s her worst nightmare x 1000.

10. Accelerator (A Certain Scientific Accelerator)

Accelerator A Certain Scientific Accelerator

Accelerator is another victim of Academy City, a place where millions of espers live in the anime shows Railgun, Index, and Accelerator which are all related.

He grew up with immense power. The power to control vectors, making him an impossible opponent since pretty much everything revolves around vectors.

He kills many people, some who were asking for trouble except they didn’t know how much trouble they were getting into messing with Accelerator.

In the end, he learns a hard lesson after almost losing his life and being disabled somewhat.

11. Shou Tucker (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Shou Tucker Fullmetal Alchemist

Shou Tucker shows up in meme after meme but is ultimately one of the most hated and despised anime characters ever made.

He’s the one who used a little girl, who was innocent and turned her into a Chimera. This man was in the end murdered by Scar, and it was done eight before the courts were able to process his crimes and sentence him.

Shou Tucker saw it coming.

12. Therestina Kihara Lifeline (A Certain Scientific Railgun)

Therestina Kihara Lifeline A Certain Scientific Railgun

Therestina may have gotten her karma in the form of a jail sentence and being locked up in maximum security, but admittedly her life has always been f*cked up from the beginning.

She’s related to Gensei Kihara, a mad scientist who used his own family as a lab rat (Therestina) and of course, others including kids to conduct sick experiments.

This is how Therestina becomes the mad scientist she is and why she walks the path of “darkness” before things go sour.

13. Makoto Itou (School Days)

Makoto Itou School Days

Makoto Itou is a heartless bastard many would say who’ve seen School Days. But a lot of characters are messed up in this series.

Still, Makoto deserves a spot in this list and gets his karma but to the absolute extreme.

After messing with the hearts of women and being Blazey and nonchalant about it, he ends up stabbed to death.

14. Prime Minister Honest (Akame Ga Kill)

Prime Minister Honest Akame Ga Kill

Prime Minster Honest is anything but honest. He’s the backhanded, snake leader of the imperial capital in Akame Ga Kill. He hides behind a child emperor so he doesn’t have to get his hands dirty.

When push comes to shove, he’s prepared to step to the plate but soon gets his long overdue Karma for abusing the nation, stealing from society’s having millions of people killed, and worse.

15. Princess Flare (Redo Of Healer)

Princess Flare Redo Of Healer rod

Flare, or Freiya, is the princess of the Jioral kingdom.

She’s the pink-haired savage who enslaves demi-humans and of course, Keyaru who’s used by her for his “healer” abilities, r*ped, abused, and forced into slavery.

With this level of savagery, it’s no surprise she had her karma coming for her. Her fingers were broken, healed back up, broken again, and then she received the same “treatment” followed by having her memory erased by the man she corrupted.

16. Mugino Shizuri or Frenda (A Certain Magical Index)

Mugino Shizuri frenda

Mugino is the leader of ITEM, a dark organization in the Index series. She kills for hire, though it doesn’t have to come down to murder.

She’s a savage at the highest level, sometimes to the point of stupidity knowing she’s outclassed. It’s her ego that sometimes drives her actions.

She gets what she deserves in the end, and had it coming to her for a long time during the later parts of the INDEX franchise.

17. Kaya Saimori (My Happy Marriage)

Kaya Saimori My Happy Marriage

From the 2023 anime series My Happy Marriage, a Netflix aired anime. And it’s one of the underrated summer anime right now.

Kaya is the blonde sister of Miyo, the latter being a main character with black hair. Miyo is like Akira from Zom 100 – weak in the knees, easy to bully, won’t speak her mind, and has been traumatized by authority.

Kaya played a role in this, and she gets her karma in the most beautiful way imaginable. Along with the toxic mother.

18. Frieza (Dragon Ball Z)

Frieza Dragon Ball Z

Frieza got his karma so many times it’s surprising he hasn’t learned his lesson. But that’s only because DBZ is the kind of anime that allows its characters (even villains at times) to be restored back to life out of necessity.

Thanks to the Dragon Balls.

Frieza is the ultimate anime villain, but he did learn his lesson from all the evils of his past, despite still being a bit of a savage when it counts.

19. Sugou Nobuyuki (Sword Art Online)

Sugou Nobuyuki Sword Art Online

And lastly, Sugou Nobuyuki is the greedy bastard who gets his karma in season 1 of Sword Art Online.

He’s the businessman who tried manipulating the emotions of the players in Aincrad and attempted to gain access to things he shouldn’t have.

He’s eventually arrested and locked up along with others and gets his fair share of karma.
