It’s that time of year again. And Crunchyroll started talking about it only some days ago.
Beyond that some other judges seem to have spoke about their involvement in the anime awards.
I was gonna leave it alone and let you all see for yourselves, but I voted for some IMPORTANT anime for 2022 so that’s my motivation for making this post.
And yes, I’m officially a judge for the Crunchyroll 2022 anime awards again.
Where’s wally (I’m top left next to Kaho Shibuya)
Similar to last year in 2021, I’m one of the few black judges who’s representing the CR anime awards.
The anime community is few and far between as far as black anime creators, or those who are noticed or put on a platform like this.
Besides that, there are MANY more judges in the Crunchyroll anime awards these days.
It never used to be this many people.
Anime shows I voted for in different categories:
- Eighty Six (86).
- Re:Zero.
- Cells At Work.
- Higehiro.
- Quintessential Quintuplets S2.
- My Hero Academia S5.
- The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace.
- Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S.
- Non Non Biyori Non Stop.
- Takt. OP Destiny.
Anime I WISH I voted for (that I watched too late):
- Shadows House (anime of the year, drama, etc).
- Vivy Fluorite Eye’s Song (best animation).
Shadows House is the most underrated anime of the year and I stand on it. It’s sad how overlooked it is, given the solid quality writing and even a 2nd season announced.
Vivy is a gorgeous anime and no anime is touching it in the visuals department. Another underrated, overlooked series.
With the way the Crunchyroll judging works, I probably voted other anime in the first round but not enough of everyone else did so they didn’t “make it” to the final round of judging.
With that said, there will be more anime (some which are underrated) that COULD go unnoticed when the results arrive in February after fan-voting.
Let’s see where it all leads!
