What makes an anime character’s outfit stylish, cool, or beautiful to look at?

We could argue that it comes down to:

Design (a big factor).
Colours.
How unique it is compared to other anime character outfits.
How well the outfit blends with each characters hair style and colour.
How simple it looks (simplicity works).
Or how much attention to detail each outfit has.

And you wouldn’t be wrong to think that. But one thing’s for sure: there’s too many reasons to boil it down to just 1.

So with that said, I’ll cover a wide range of characters with simple, unique, flashy and colourful outfits. The kinds of outfits that don’t show up often in your everyday anime series.

Eureka’s outfit is one of the most interesting I’ve seen. Blending with her blue hair colour, not to mention her strange but unique personality.

Those purple eyes make Eureka even more aesthetically pleasing to look at.

2. Maki Shido (Katana Maidens)

Maki Shido is a newcomer from 2018 anime: Katana Maidens (Toji No Miko).

Out of all the toji characters, Maki’s my favorite in terms of outfit design. She has a strong “warrior” vibe going on.

3. Owari No Seraph character outfits

Yuichiro Hyakuya and Shinoa Hiiragi’s outfits are from the moon demon company. An organization that’s intent on destroying the vampire race in Owari No Seraph.

The blend of green and dark blue makes these military outfits some of the best I’ve seen.

4. Byakuya Kuchiki And Shunsui Kyoraku (Bleach)

There are a LOT of soul reapers in the anime: Bleach. But many of them aren’t “unique” when it comes to clothing style.

Byakuya is one of the few who has a unique “swag” compared to most other Soul Reaper captains. Shunsui is another character with an interesting outfit, in addition to the usual “Captain” swag.

5. Erza Scarlet’s “Heavens Wheel” (Fairy Tail)

No matter how you look at it, Heavens Wheel is one of the most gorgeous anime character outfits ever seen. Not to mention Erza’s design in this form.

It’s stunning, breath-taking, unique and incomparable. You’ll get to witness it in the early stages of watching Fairy Tail.

6. Sword Art Online character outfits

Sword Art Online has some pretty good character outfits in general. And that’s true even if you compare season 1, season 2 and Ordinal Scale (movie).

Kirito’s is the simplest and that’s what makes it different.

7. Rider of Black Astolfo (Fate Apocrypha)

Out of all the outfits seen in Fate Apocrypha, Rider Astolfo’s stands out for me.

And her (or his) personality makes a difference, too.

Tenka’s outfits the most interesting. Matching both his black and red hair colours, along with his earrings, accessories and cloak.

Nishiki’s outfit also compliments her eyes and hair colours.

Asterisk War is an action series with a futuristic setting. So it’s no surprise the outfits look like they’re from another world.

And it’s not too over the top to not be likable.

Sesshomaru is tall, so there’s more to his outfit in terms of detail, colours and style. It’s one of the most unique, especially compared to the average anime these days.

There’s a lot going on with Mumei’s look. Lots of wrapped pieces of clothing around her ankles, neck, arms and torso.

It makes you wonder what the exact “meaning” is behind her whole outfit, since it has so many different elements to it.

Elegant, prestigious and easy to remember. Heine is a royal tutor, and his simple black outfit represents that.
