Polygamous relationships are those involving:
- More than one wife.
- Multiple wives.
And even though harem isn’t a genre with 1000s of anime shows, it does have some that promote polygamy.
Some of these anime are outright polygamous because:
- Its main character has multiple wives.
- Or multiple girlfriends.
- Or the character in question is dating multiple girls who are aware of it.
And sometimes, the girls themselves don’t mind the thought of it.
Let’s talk about the best polygamy anime shows.
Here’s a list.
1. Redo Of Healer
Redo Of Healer is an anime series about Keyaru, a young healer who’s locked away in a dungeon by the so-called princess of the Jioral kingdom.
She then uses his healing abilities for nefarious intentions, abuses him, and even gets him gang-r*ped.
This sparks revenge, which he achieves by re-doing time 5 years into the past.
Polygamy is a big part of this anime’s present timeline after Keyaru starts to build up his own harem of girls, all of who are OK and willing to be one of his many sexual partners.
It’s only the demon lord who refuses to take part in it, at least in the anime series itself.

2. How Not To Summon A Demon Lord
Diablo, who was once a weeb in the real world before being reincarnated as Diablo a powerful demon, has many girls on his side.
These girls are willingly part of his harem, and will even sleep in the same bed as him (the two main female characters).
Diablo’s harem grows as the anime progresses, and that’s true for the second season as well.
3. To Love Ru
In this anime, the main male MC has two girlfriends but not in the beginning, so polygamy is real here. It’s even approved by the Deviluke family, essentially (a family with girls interested in the MC).
The MC’s original interest is a childhood friend called Haruka, but that all changes once a pink-haired alien girl lands on Earth, and everything drastically changes overnight to a crazy degree.

4. Girlfriend, Girlfriend
In this anime with a now airing second season, the idea of polygamy is the driving force behind the anime’s plot and themes.
The MC gets one girlfriend, then two, and the numbers continue to rise. He even proposes to have more than one girlfriend to the very girls who are interested in him, and vice versa.
This is what kicks off the thought of “trying” to be one of many girlfriends which everybody agrees with and is on the sesame page about.
5. Strike The Blood
Strike The Blood is a relatively popular and successful anime series with multiple seasons and content. And it has some action to it as well as supernatural.
The main female character is an important figure in the plot, along with the male character Kojou.
Speaking of Kojou, he has multiple wives in the Strike The Blood series. And he isn’t shy about it either.
Polygamy at its finest.
6. In Another World With My Smartphone
Mochizuki Touya wears a pimp coat and knows how to dress. Jokes aside, he’s reincarnated into another world after GOD’s thunder kills him in the real world.
As an apology, he gives him life again with extra benefits like a smartphone alongside magical abilities, and of course, God’s personal phone number should he needs to call him.
Mochizuki gains wife after wife in the anime, but it starts as just regular interest between the many girls he meets. Then at one point, he decides to marry all of these girls instead of choosing just one of them.
And that solidifies the polygamous nature of this Isekai series.
7. School Days
School Days is famous for its later scenes where things get brutal and murderous. But before that, we have a male MC who’s cocky, arrogant, and Blazey with his attitude.
In fact, when he ends up in a relationship he essentially has multiple girlfriends since cheating is involved and other elements.
It’s a messy situation.
One person isn’t happy with this “polygamy” and then things turn sour, to horrible, to savage, and the Yandere within comes out swinging.
8. Date A Live
Date A Live is about spirits who are female characters of course, and Shido Itsuka who’s a male MC with blue hair, and one who’s average and your bog standard type of MC.
He first meets the girl with purple hair, and then his domino list of girls gets knocked down one after the other when he “saves” them with his magical kiss.
Shido dates multiple girls in this successful harem anime series, and it’s no secret.
9. Tenchi Muyo
You can think of this anime as an evolution of the 1980s show Urusei Yatsura, but it does have its own flow and style so it’s not at all an imitation.
For an old school series, it’s surprisingly funny and does an even more surprisingly good job of highlighting the harem aspect and making it appealing from an entertainment point of view.
First, an Alien girl lands on Earth, and starts clinging to the MC claiming she’s in danger, then later another girl arrives denouncing her logic, and the anime spirals with the harem from there.
The MC is in a similar situation to Shido Itsuka.
10. Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls
Not a hardcore polygamy anime show, but Monster Musume does have a main male MC who lives with monster girls of all kinds, all shapes, and all sizes.
He’s got it good. He has plenty of choice on his hands given each MOnster girl has their “appeal”.
Similar to DxD, the idea of polygamy isn’t far-fetched or unwanted in a strict sense.
11. Campione
Campione is an anime where the characters do a whole lot of kissing, and snogging (french kissing), which is why it’s an Ecchi series. After the main character gains a mysterious power, his “chick magnet” also becomes more powerful as well.
That leads to his attraction going through the roof, and of course, the idea of polygamy being a thing for him since many girls, including the blonde-haired girl fawning over him so much.
12. High School DxD
Issei has it good for a harem MC. He’s not as cringey as many other harem MCs and not as bland or painfully boring either. But he’s still a harem MC at the end of the day.
The anime shines because of its female characters, unsurprisingly, like Rias Gremory, the red-haired devil. Not to mention Akeno, the “ara ara” devil girl, and plenty of others.
Polygamy isn’t such a taboo concept in the world of DxD.
13. The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really Love You
Imagine confessing to 100 girls only for those 100 girls to reject you without fail. That’s the situation with this anime’s MC and the anime itself which is now airing during Fall 2023.
Then the “God Of Love” promises the MC that he’s destined to have multiple girlfriends, and so his luck starts to turn around, ending up with dozens and dozens of girlfriends.
This is clearly a wish fulfilment anime series, but it is different in a sense.
14. Kiss X Sis
And then you have Kiss x Sis, which is a classic Ecchi series and one that you’ll need to bleach your eyes out with if this isn’t your thing (not mine either).
The main c character of this series wants to marry two girls, both of who are sisters. He’s always had this idea in his head and it’s what he drives for.
The only reason his idea of a polygamous relationship doesn’t come to pass is because his father doesn’t want his son to do it, and that becomes the roadblock to this anime being a full-blown polygamy-style series.
The main character and the girls in the series are 100% on board with the idea of polygamy otherwise, making it relevant for this list.
