Ecchi translates to “pervert” in English. While that can describe the genre in some cases, it’s not a hard rule since many Ecchi are more lenient and less stereotypical.
Let’s talk about:
- Waifus.
- Anime girls.
- The best female characters.
And everything in between from all of these ecchi anime shows.
The ones I feel are among the greatest ecchi waifus of all time.
1. Tohka Yatogami (Date A Live)
Tohka Yatogami is the first girl that Shido Itsuka comes across in his journey in Date A Live. He pretty much takes a bullet for her in a dramatic, cliche fashion.
As a female character, Tohka can be straightforward despite appearing to be a Tsundere and is generally one of the more pleasant characters of the series.
She’s one of the fan favourites even today with Date A Live having so many seasons.
2. Kanbaru Suruga (Monogatari)
Kanbaru is a lesbian or appears to be in the Monogatari series. She’s friends with Araragi Kun, the male MC, but it appears to be more than just “friends” when you realize they’re practically naked in some scenes.
She’s a curious female character and an Ecchi waifu in this context.
Fun, energetic, easy to talk to, easygoing, somewhat laid back, and non judgmental.
3. Satsuki Kiryuin (Kill La Kill)
Satsuki Kiryuin is the big boss of the Kill La Kill series, or at least that’s how the anime portrays her to be in the early stages.
She runs Hannouji Academy, and everyone respects her whether it’s out of fear or because they admire her courage, morals, ethics, and standards in general.
Satsuki underneath the mask is much kinder, sweeter, and nicer than she appears to be. But one thing is for sure, and that’s how calculated, strategic, logical, and forward thinking she is.
She’ll throw away shame if it means accomplishing the bigger picture goal. Nothing holds back her vision.
4. Alice Nakiri (Food Wars)
Alice Nakiri is the cousin of Erina, the latter who is more of an MC whereas Alice is a supporting role in Food Wars.
White hair, a sharp mind, creative and innovative when approaching things, food, or anything she decides to create or pursue.
She’s a chef like no other, and her mindset differs from the average.
She’s also attractive and smart.
5. Kureha Crylet (Redo Of Healer)
Kureha is the swordswoman from Redo Of Healer. She’s a legendary swordswoman as well, few would dare to mess with her or challenge her to a fight.
This was clear when she fought Keyaru the MC, but he had the upper hand for obvious reasons.
When Kureha woke up to the kingdom’s nefarious activities, she committed herself to discovering the truth and making a change.
She’s someone who can accept change and open her mind, and not be closed off, stubborn, or foolish when it comes to the truth.
6. Rias Gremory (High School DxD)
Rias Gremory goes without saying.
High School DxD has produced various female characters designed to be a certain way, and Rias is at the top of the so called food chain.
Redhead, voluptuous body, a devil who looks gorgeous, and a personality to go with it.
She’s a fantasy, clearly.
7. Douki Chan (Ganbare Douki Chan)
Douki Chan is an office worker and there is a manga as well as an anime of her anime series (Ganbare).
She can be a shy female character, and a kind person, but also hard working, thoughtful, and doesn’t seem to have a bad bone in her body.
She’s a standard waifu type but in an Ecchi world.
8. Sylphy (Mushoku Tensei)
Slyphy from Mushokiu Tensei has always been a good-natured person and character. We see this when she’s a kid, despite Rudeus being a little tramp in the early stages of Mushoku Tensei.
She’s angelic, gentle, and kind, and is the type of woman who will hold down her man and support him to the fullest without any of the BS whatsoever.
A true “wife” type in a healthy sense.
9. Lucy (Elfen Lied)
Lucy is a Diclonius. This type of man-made creature has vectors which vibrate at a high speed and can rip almost anything to shreds with no effort.
We see this when Lucy escapes her laboratory in the first episode, and murders a lot of the doctors and scientists as she makes her escape. Only to wash up on a faraway island, forgetting what happened.
Lucy is a tragic ecchi anime waifu, and the anime is unforgiving in so many ways to her.
10. Chii (Chobits)
Chii from Chobits might seem like a weird character at first, and honestly she is since she’s an android.
She becomes the “waifu” of the main character in this series after he discovers her in his apartment, and the relationship, though strange, starts to bloom.
Strictly talking about waifu material in an ecchi sense, is the reason why she’s here.
11. Sakura Hibiki (How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?)
Sakura Hibiki is the tanned girl from this hilarious anime series. It mixes comedy with motivation, and that’s what makes this series a bit unique.
Hibiki, as seen in the first episode, wants to lose weight, which some silly people see as “fatphobic” and that’s a silly criticism.
She goes to the local gym, where she meets other people besides Akemi, and that’s when the anime’s shenanigans begin.
Hibiki works hard and is committed, sometimes she needs some motivation, but she does have a positive attitude and she’s a girl who thinks about her physical health.
Also, she’s one of the hottest ecchi girls from the series (or from the genre).
12. Saeko Busujima (High School Of The Dead)
Busujima is a fan favourite from the HSOFD anime series. Once she shows up and shows off her sword skills killing zombie after zombie, her reputation is solidified.
Especially when adding the fact she’s gorgeous, and her role in the anime as a whole.
She can be compared to Erza Scarlet, but obviously Busujima is from an Ecchi series.
13. Utaha Kasumigaoka (How To Raise A Boring Girlfriend)
Utaha Kasumigaoka is a best selling author in the anime series and has sold books in the 100s of thousands.
She’s an author for real and that’s what she invests her time into, and that’s how she makes her money.
Utaha is also an introverted girl who enjoys her own space and loves to spend time creating. But at the same time, she is a curious person and loving, especially when it comes to dating.
14. Ayame Kajou (Shimoneta)
Ayame Kajou is the main protagonist of this crazy ecchi series. She calls herself Blue Snow when she’s masked up running around with a white outfit and underpants on her head.
The reasoning is simple. In this anime, lewd, ecchi, pornographic, or even ditty jokes are all illegal and considered unpure and unclean.
Anybody can be jailed for this and is forced to wear a neck device that tracks a person’s GPS to keep them disciplined.
Ayame rejects this and is branded a terrorist (when she’s under disguise as Blue Snow), and she spreads flyers encouraging people to rebel against the government’s censorship.
15. Lala Satalin (To Love Ru)
Lala can’t be ignored in the conversation about Ecchi anime waifus, and anime girls from Ecchi shows in general.
To Love Ru might not be the most high rated ecchi series out there, but its popularity is solidified.
Lala comes across as someone who doesn’t have any sense, plays dumb, is airheaded, and doesn’t care much about “etiquette” or shame.
If she’s interested, she’s all in. And she lives on her own planet which is ironic since she’s an alien.
16. Ukyo Kuonji (Ranma 1/2)
Ukyo is the girl who makes Okinomiyaki, a special type of Japanese dish made in Okinawa.
She runs her own shop so she’s a little bit of a businesswoman and entrepreneur who likes to make her own money and control her own destiny of sorts.
Ukyo carries around a Spatula and this becomes part of the comedic routine the anime finds herself in at times.
She might not be the first “ecchi” character most would think of, but she absolutely is.
17. Rea (Sankrea: Undynig Love)
Rea is a female character who goes through a lot in this ecchi anime series that also involves zombies.
The main male character Chihiro is a guy with weird fantasies. He wants a zombie girlfriend and has always been insistent on this.
Well, he gets his wish after Rea, the girl he meets, dies and comes back to life as a zombie after Chihiro follows a procedure that makes someone into a zombie.
And that leads them both to being in a relationship and becoming boyfriend and girlfriend.
Except she’s now a zombie, and this is expressed by how pale Rea is. But we also see how fucked up her home life was with her disgusting parents, to say the least.
18. Hanakawa Tsubasa (Monogatari)
Hanakawa is a recurring character in the Monogatari series. She’s there right in the first episode of Monogatari, and she has her own arcs in the anime series later.
Intelligent, observant, introverted, and a person who thinks a lot but is quite modest and far from an arrogant person.
She’s also one of the most attractive female characters in the weird franchise made by Studio SHAFT.
19. Sena (Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends)
Sena is the blonde female character from Haganai who is the 3rd character to show up in “The Neighbors Club” formed by Kodaka and Yozara.
She likes to play games, has an interest in Kodaka, and is one of the more likeable ecchi waifus from Haganai as a series.
Usually, she’s seen fighting with Yozara, the girl with black hair, but mostly because Yozara is jealous and is a bit of a bully type.
20. Erina Nakiri (Food Wars)
Erina Nakiri is the blonde Himedere type of character who wants to, acts like, and almost expects to be treated like a princess and like royalty.
Coming from a rich family, she has privileges in the anime that others don’t, but that doesn’t stop characters like Soma Yukihira who comes from humble beginnings impressing Erina with his work ethic, creativity, and smarts in cooking and culinary activities.
Erina puts on the front, but she’s sweeter on the inside that only a few get to see.
21. Kurumi Tokisaki (Date A Live)
Kurumi Tokisaki is the Yandere of the Date A Live series and she has always been on people’s minds as far as “ecchi waifu” type characters.
Maybe people wouldn’t literally find her attractive in the real world, but they sure do from a fictional perspective.
She’s obsessive, possessive, has a nasty side to her personality, and is a savage. But she’s also a realist capable of seeing things for how they are without the sugar coating.
She can give good advice because of how she sees the world.
22. Julius Alexia Von Riesfeld (Asterisk War)
Julius from Asterisk War is a quality female character in my eyes, despite the overall feelings towards the show from people in general.
Ecchi and harem nonsense aside in the first episode, this anime is tame with it and Julius is part of that reason.
She’s a princess who acts more like a woman who works hard to make money and support orphanages back home (which is part of the reason she participates in the Festa tournament).
She’s a very feminine character despite being hard working, committed, sometimes serious, and being a capable character who’s strong in mind, body, and spirit.
