Have you ever noticed how:
- Anime companies.
- Publishers.
And everyone in between is so terrified when it comes to:
- Hentai.
- Ecchi.
And any type of anime-related content that is considered “lewd”, naughty, or offensive?
This fact always amazes me from the outside looking in because of how much money Hentai makes and can make, and how profitable it would be.
But sometimes profit in situations of “porn”, even if animated, becomes a so called issue.
Let’s talk about it.
This game has a combination of two-dimensional graphics and some three-dimensional animation. The puzzle section has eye-catching special effects, and the animation in the sex scenes is highly accurate, making climaxing a breeze.
Why anime publishers and companies never promote Hentai:
1. They may lose sponsors by promoting Hentai
This one applies so heavily to the anime space online, and I’m talking about anime websites that share:
- News.
- Articles.
- Sponsorship posts from other companies.
- Those that run advertisements.
And basically everyone who depends on some form of advertisements, big or small.
This also includes YouTubers since they too can’t promote certain content without it being demonetised and risking less revenue on the table.
Many of the sponsors in some cases may be Japanese if talking about Crunchyroll (assuming they let other businesses advertise inside of their posts, etc). But many are Western companies.
Mostly from the USA and other big anime markets, so we already know how they feel about hentai or Ecchi content across the board.
2. They want to save face
When talking about companies, publishers, writers, bloggers, or whatever else, certain things become sensitive topics and sensitive issues.
Hentai is clearly a sensitive issue seeing as it’s Japanese animated porn, or “anime porn” if you like that better. And most even outside the industry would rather not be associated with it.
Why? Obviously people care about what others might think of them, regardless of whether those fears are justified or imaginary.
It’s easier to save face in these situations by either:
- Demonising.
- Criticizing.
- Ignoring.
- Dismissing.
Or even bashing people who promote or encourage Hentai than it is we’ll say “embrace” it, promote it, and acknowledge its existence.
This is a step too far for many publishers, companies, bloggers, authors, and everyone else in between so they avoid it like the plague.

3. In cases like Sony, they’re pro-censorship for anything seen as “too much skin”
Sony loves censorship the way Western kids love lce cream, Muslims love bread, Indians love spices, or the British love bacon and eggs.
Sony has been censoring anime games to death for so many years now, with games and franchises like Senran Kagura being an obvious example.
These games can be considered Ecchi at the most, and at the least, games featuring attractive female characters who aren’t “allowed” to be too pretty or sexy (even if it’s classy).
So imagine something like Hentai making its way into the video game industry and somehow being accepted when you have SONY as one of the major overlords?
It’s not gonna happen. They’re pro-censorship even for shit that isn’t bad in the first place, so you can forget about hentai ever being accepted by publishers and companies like Sony.
4. It would fundamentally change their business
Hentai is powerful. It’s so powerful that many don’t even realize how far its power and influence goes. And I don’t mean that sarcastically either.
I’ve already demonstrated how popular hentai is through stats, graphs, and all the rest of it.
For example, Hentai is more trendy than:
- The most famous celebrities.
- The biggest gaming consoles.
- The trends of the moment.
And is even comparable to Michael Jackson, though it may have surpassed even him at this point.
It’s a best kept secret at this point because Hentai is so underground even though it’s so “over ground”. Underground because of how it’s treated by the industry, not because of its lack of fame (which it has a lot of).
This would change many anime companies, publishers, and websites businesses overnight if they adopted hentai into the fold because its power, influence, and magnet-like fans are on another level.
5. They have children viewing their platforms
This is a sensible reason out of all the ones mentioned. When children are viewing your platform, you obviously have to consider your audience and the legalities that come with it.
Regardless of whether some children (or teenagers) are “mature” compared to others is an irrelevant argument when legalities are part of the picture.
People and businesses don’t want to associate with that.
It’s understandable. It’s a serious issue especially if you were to be sued, called out publicly, or whatever the case may be.
Of course, there are always ways around this like verifying the age of your audience. But even that can be a step too far and seen as too much headache so it’s avoided all together.
6. The world is iffy and prudish towards any sort of pornographic material
The world is interesting. When it comes to pornography, the real kind, it’s understandable in my mind why people are so iffy towards it.
You have real porn stars, men and women, who often leave the business damaged, fucked up, broken, and it affects their lives dramatically outside the industry forever.
Women can’t expect to have good prospects when it comes to marriage after 100s of guys have scored goals almost every day of the week for the last 10 years.
But that stigma carries over even into the world of Hentai despite it not harming anyone physically and despite no real people being affected in the process.
Porn is porn, and Hentai is an extension of that in a way that fuels the imagination and even puts the imagination into visuals no matter how wild.
7. Hentai is considered immoral (just like porn)
Lust Goddess is a hot and thrilling collectible card game, in which you will assemble your unique squad of sexy mercenary girls.
Continuing on from the last points, be it anime companies or otherwise, many see porn as immoral and unethical, even if it’s the hentai kind.
Of course, some of these people are hypocrites simply because they themselves:
- Watch porn or Hentai.
- Hire escorts in private.
- Sleep with prostitutes.
- Tune into onlyfans.
And things of that nature. Still, that only applies to those who are being hypocrites rather than everybody else.
Everyone else, especially when you look at Muslim or African cultures, has good reasons to see porn the way they do. There are even some studies based on it (not Hentai, but porn).
The bottom line though is most anime companies, publishers, and the like won’t promote hentai because of stigmas such as immorality and how others perceive it.
