Hentia terms are common even if you’re not a fan of hentai or into it in the first place.
These terms (some) seep into some anime conversations and become known that way.
Others are more specific and you have to be “in” it to know it.
Let’s talk about all of these hentai terms and popular phrases.
Here’s a list.
1. Tentacles
Everyone recognizes this essential hentai term regardless of whether you’ve watched 10 hentai or zero hentai at all.
In fact, it’s so famous that a lot of people who judge anime outside the community usually have had some exposure to TENTACLES in one way or another.
Memes, or by deliberately visiting porn sites and then finding hentai as a consequence of visiting porn sites.
In the world of “normal” anime, tentacles are a theme as well, derived from hentai, that is featured in various ecchi shows and even in “normal” shows like Sword Art Online Alicization.
Stirring the pot of controversy and comedy as well.
2. NSFW
Are you ready to play one of the best and sexiest fast-paced fantasy hentai RPGs available for free on Android, iOS and PC?
NSFW is a term you’ll see a lot when it comes to content associated with hentai in general.
You see it with hentai games by various publishers or websites, and you also see it with websites that cater to streaming hentai.
It’s a sensible way of letting people know what they’re in for, or what type of content they can expect to see. And most of all, to make sure people consent to whatever it is they’re about to watch.
3. Lolita
The term Lolita, contrary to popular belief, is NOT associated with anime in general. The average anime doesn’t come near this territory.
It’s more the hentai side of things (not even ecchi) where this thing is more common.
As Wikipedia puts it:
“Lolita” is an English-language term defining a young girl as “precociously seductive.” It originates from Vladimir Nabokov’s 1955 novel Lolita, which portrays the narrator Humbert’s sexual obsession with and victimization of a 12-year-old girl whom he privately calls “Lolita”, the Spanish nickname for Dolores (her given name).
Unlike Nabokov, however, contemporary writers typically use the term “Lolita” to portray a young girl who attracts adult desire as complicit rather than victimized.”
There is a lot of back and forth on this topic for good reason.
4. Futanari
Unlike ecchi which is more of a strip tease, Futanari is associated with hentai for a few reasons. It’s the pornographic material of eroge, manga, and anime.
Or these days, manhwa as well.
This is why it’s not just associated with hentai, but why it’s a common hentai term, probably more so outside the west than Japan itself.
This is again controversial because of the material that can be used here.
5. Ahegao
The term ahegao has become popular enough for a lot to know about it, even if they’re not in that world or near it.
It’s when a woman does the “oh” face, climaxing after or during sex. But with ahegao, it’s exaggerated which is why the meme and the face are so famous.
This is also the kind of thing you’ll see if watching various hentai shows. By nature, hentai exaggerates a lot of things no different to regular porn, but to more of a degree since it’s fictional content.
There was also some controversy and history behind ahegao as well.
6. Ecchi
Believe it or not but ecchi is also associated with hentai and is one of the terms used for it.
Whether it’s a website that uses it for tags, or ecchi is being compared to hentai for its differences in content or just the fact that hentai is ecchi on steroids.
If you know the term ecchi, you likely know about hentai since the two can’t be separated.
7. Softcore
Softcore is exactly as it sounds and while it’s not an official hentai term, it is a term used in hentai circles.
Some hentai are obviously nastier, more pornographic, or “exaggerated” and lewd than others. Softcore differentiates between hentai content that is more “diluted” we’ll say, then the opposite.
But in the end it’s still hentai and pornographic content is what’s to be expected.
8. Eroge
Eroge is simply a genre of adult anime games, but it also seeps into the world of hentai for one good reason. You have hentai games you can play as opposed to watching hentai.
That’s where eroge comes into the umbrella of hentai terms.
With some games, you’ll have sex scenes from top to bottom and the game is very sexual in general. But other games might occasionally sneak in a scene or two, or some sexual content where necessary so to speak.
There are levels to it (no pun intended) so the sexual content can differ from game to game.
9. Body Fluids
There are many memes in the anime community that borrow from hentai thanks to the hentai term “fluids”.
As it sounds, it speaks to the jizzing, cumming, and every other part of hentai, porn, women, men, and all the sexy that happens in between.
Hentai is known for its exaggerations, and this is also the case with FLUIDS which are seemingly sprayed like a water hose being shot out with cannon-like power.
10. Fetish
Fetishes exist in all forms of porn. Hentai is another level since it can exploit its use of animation, fictional stories, and art to do something no other realistic medium can pull off,
Or would even dare to.
- Elf girls.
- Wolves.
- Aliens.
- Dragons.
- MILFS.
- Slime girls.
- Dark skinned girls.
- THICC girls.
Hentai has a variety of fetishes, a buffet of fetishes actually. There are so many that if a person likes hentai, they will never be disappointed with the amount of fetishes artists and writers have imagined.
You can’t separate fetish from hentai.
11. Orgasm
Similar to the hentai term of FLUIDS you see the term orgasm a lot because you literally see characters talking about it during sex.
Also, the memes that come with this type of content has made the term synonymous with hentai.
Especially, like with the term fluids, it can be exaggerated to comedic levels of entertainment.
