So it’s only natural for anime’s influence to be recognized in:
- Schools
- Colleges
- Universities
And to be criticized similar to this story.
Concerns about anime sent to students parents by email
“It has come to our attention that some students are being influenced by Anime, a genre of graphic animation available to anyone on
social media . Please be aware of what your child may be watching on their devices, while online. At TMMS, we promote health and safety. We strive to surround our students around positive experiences that promote good decision making.” – Melaine Arias
As pointed out in the email to parents, the principal shares concern that their students are being influenced by anime.
It’s implied as being potentially unhealthy, unsafe, and most of all – not a positive influence for their kids. At least potentially.

Is anime a bad influence?
Like with all things, it all comes down to:
- Your age.
- Your mindset.
- Your upbringing.
- Common sense.
- Self esteem.
And everything related to that as a general rule. But with so little context, there’s nothing to point to from the principals concerns over anime.
I know I watched and seen things well beyond my age as a kid and I turned out fine. No different to how gamers don’t go around killing people in the millions.
The rare minority doesn’t represent the majority, but in the case of anime – not enough people understand it enough which is why it’s taken out of context…
