14+ Summer 2022 Anime Shows You Shouldn’t Miss Out On!

Spring 2022 is still underway with anime like:

• Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie.
• Ascendance Of A Bookworm S3.
• Kaguya Sama S3.
• The Executioner And Her Way Of Life.
• Aharen Is Indecipherable.
• Skeleton Knight In Another World.
• Spy x Family.

And too many good anime shows to mention that are all doing a solid job of reppin’ anime this year.

In just 2 months it’ll be summer season with some anime airing from July onwards. Some are new seasons, others are brand new adaptions all together.

Let’s do a list.

 

Summer 2022 anime:

 

1. Yofukashi no Uta

The English title for this anime is Call of the Night. It’s based on a manga adaption with some decent ratings.

Kou Yamori is the typical MC but in the case of this anime, he quits school and develops insomnia. Eventually he meets a mysterious girl who cures his problem, and things take a turn from there.

The girl in question (Nazuna) is a vampire so this will be one of the vampire anime to release during 2022.

 

2. When Will Ayumu Make His Move?

In a lot of ways When Will Ayumu Make His Move can be compared to anime like:

• Komi San Can’t Communicate.
• Aharen Is Indecipherable.

And anime shows like it that are airing right now. It’s also adapted from a manga.

Being adapted by Silver Link studios (Kokoro Connect) this anime is about Ayumu who fancies a girl from the shogi club called Urushi.

He makes a promise to himself to beat her at Shogi before confessing his feelings, and that’s what the title of this anime is getting at.

Expect wholesome vibes and wholesome romance similar to what’s happening now with shows like Aharen Is Indecipherable.

 

3. Rent A Girlfriend Season 2

Rent A Girlfriend already killed it the moment it dropped back in July 2020. And the anime even stirred a bit of controversy.

Since then the anime broke through the noise, built a fanbase, and now has a 2nd season dropping in July 2022.

As the name says, it’s about a rental girlfriend called Chizuru Mizuhara, and Kazuya Kinoshita, a guy who “rents” this girlfriend after his real girlfriend dumps him.

There are more rental girlfriends who show up and shake up the plot a bit, and that’s gonna be even more wild in the 2nd season.

 

4. Engage Kiss

Being made by A-1 pictures, this anime is about Shu Ogata who happens to be a business man running his own local business.

He’s a reckless spender though, and foolish with his money, so that bleeds into his life and makes it more difficult.

This rom com will focus on misunderstandings, over the top comedy, and romance between Shu, his ex girlfriend, and another girl who’s concerned about him and his lifestyle.

This is an original anime, NOT an adaptation.

 

5. Laid Back Camp: The Movie

Laid Back Camp is originally a slice of life series where cute girls are doing cute things, usually in a camping environment.

It has similarities to shows like:

• K-On.
• Comic Girls.
• Encourage Of Climb.

And anime along those lines.

The movie for Laid Back Camp is set for July 2022.

 

6. Sasaki and Miyano OVA

Sasaki and Miyano is a YAOI anime that released earlier in 2022. The anime can also be categorized as BL (boys love).

With this Studio Deen adapted romance/slice of life anime between boys, the anime ended back in March 2022. And has an OVA as an addition to the first season.

It has similarities to Horimiya, Bloom Into You, and Tanaka Kun Is Always Listless.

 

7. The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting

You can tell by the name of this anime that it’s gonna be something different, comedic, and even a bit wholesome in a slice of life setting.

Well that’s exactly what it is.

A Yakuza member ends up taking on a new job to babysit the boss’s daughter, and that’s why the “fun” side of this otherwise gangster lifestyle begins.

It focuses on a new angle and stirs away from the typical route anime can take when Yakuza are involved.

8. Gundam G Gekitou ni Sakebu Ai Movie

Gundam is a classic Mecha series that’s been running for longer than I’ve been alive, and most of you reading this post and subscribing to the site.

It was the original “Shounen” for how popular and influential it was on shaping the anime industry decades later.

Gundam G is the 5th part of ongoing content from Gundam, but the duration of the movie is not yet known as of May 9th 2022.

9. Extreme Hearts

This is another “original” anime series made from scratch. No adaptation, no manga, no light novel. Just an anime.

Set in the future, Extreme Hearts is about sports with music being an important theme in the overall story. And friendships as well, probably with similarities to something like Love Live School Idol Project.

 

10. The Devil Is A Part Timer S2

The Devil Is A Part Timer was a classic from the 2010’s and most people who watch it enjoy it. It’s a reverse Isekai with a creative plot.

Satan is forced to abandon his world and ends up on earth, Tokyo to be specific. And is forced to live like a human after losing a good portion of his original powers.

He’s servant Ashiya or “Alciel” also joins him after getting passports and jobs. They live together in a small flat.

Hero Emilia, an angel who almost killed Satan is also on earth and she’s the reason he had to escape, but the plot doesn’t drive the story in a violent direction and chooses a slice of life approach instead.

 

11. Shadows House S2

Shadows House is one of the most underrated anime of 2021. It’s a mystery/slice of life series about Emilico, a blonde doll, and Kate, a low ranking noble called a “shadow”.

The massive mansion everyone lives in is full of dolls and shadows who mimic each other. They’re like yin and yang.

The plot gets progressively darker and it has enough suspense and clever writing that you can compare it to something like Death Note.

 

12. Bucchigire

Bucchigire is the last anime on this list for Summer 2022. It’s a samurai series, something you don’t see a whole lot of these days.

Made by Geno Studio, the same studio behind shows like Golden Kamuy, Bucchigire is based on Kyoto Japan in the era of Samurai’s.

A secret operation is underway, comparable to the assassination group Nightraid in the Akame Ga Kill series.

 

13. Danmachi Season 4

Danmachi season 4 is set to be released around July 22nd 2022. I doubt the date will change but if so it’ll only be moved back or forward a few days at most.

The alternative title Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon is an anime and light novel series that’s caught a lot of attention since its inception.

It consistently has great sales, a solid fanbase, and continues to be a successful franchise in the fantasy/magic genre of both anime and light novel content.

Season 4 just might be the best one yet.

 

14. The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious

As implied by the title, this anime centers around a maid who’s mysterious and of course – one who’s gorgeous, attractive, and cute by design.

This brown skinned beauty shouldn’t surprise anyone who’s a fan of the authors works since the author behind Jahy Sama is the same author of this anime adaptation.

It’ll be a somewhat wholesome series with comedy and slice of life-like elements to give you something to relax to this summer 2022.
