The pornography industry is known for how fucked up it is, and the level of:
- Psychological.
- Reputational.
And emotional damage it causes to those who participate in it. Before, during, and after the fact.
And yes, this includes men, not just women (documented).
Hentai doesn’t suffer from these ethical issues

Not to say Hentai is “mister clean” but it doesn’t burden its creators with ethical problems, immoral outcomes, or damaging circumstances that are guaranteed to haunt you for an eternity.
It also doesn’t take advantage of “young” women in the pursuit of profit and success, while hurting their self esteem in the process.
Here’s why Hentai is more ethical than regular porn.
1. Everything is virtual
At the end of the day, Hentai is imagined. It’s all virtual and none of it is happening to a real person in real life, who has to deal with real problems because of it.
It’s hysterical to think Hentai is more ethical for reasons like this and others, but it’s the cold hard truth.
Everything from hentai’s:
- Characters.
- Women.
- Men.
- Shows.
- Movies.
- OVA’s.
- Scenes.
- Tropes.
- Stories.
Everything is virtual, made up, untouchable in a physical sense, and that ensures nobody (the voice actors in this case) is unsafe or on the verge of slowly destroying their lives in some way.
2. Hentai only involves voice actors, writers, etc
Regular porn, be it Western porn or Japanese porn, involves actual actors who physically f*ck on the screen, commit all sorts of debauchery, which becomes a permanent imprint in the minds of its watchers.
Imagine being a porn star 10 years or 20 years later who is only remembered for being a born star, and is seen as nothing more than that based on your past actions.
This is a reality for many.
This reality doesn’t exist for hentai voice actors, writers, authors, etc.
How could it? They only perform on a studio microphone, not one with flesh. Or write with a pen instead of playing with a pen if you get what I’m saying.
This distinction allows many hentai voice actors, men and women, to go about their lives as if they weren’t just screaming into the mic making horny sounds for the Hentai project they’re working on.
Hentai voice actors have freedom and not the illusion of it. You won’t even know who the voice actors are or even care if watching a hentai unless you’re one of those people who looks up the information online.
Real life porn stars can’t say the same thing because their image sticks with them forever, and even if they change careers, they’re forever chained to the actions of their past selves when they were on video doing the dirty.
Which also stays online forever for the world to see whenever they please.
3. Nobody, especially not teenagers, will be exploited
The pornography industry is known for how messed up it is and nobody would dare to debate this fact.
Teenagers have been exploited, in fact, there are even porn sites or porn in general that focus on teenagers, which is absolutely disgusting and criminal.
It’s not just disgusting, unethical and immoral, but it’s also dangerously damaging to the individuals who take part in it when they have no idea what this means for their future.
Or just the fact they’re naive to the reality they’re being exploited. And in worse cases, being forced into this lifestyle against their will as teenagers.
Hentai doesn’t exploit teenagers by design. Or anyone for that matter.
How could it?
Only voice actors are voicing the characters. These people aren’t being put into awkward scenes, situations, camera angles, etc, where the world gets to see them in the most shameful way imaginable.
Especially if we’re talking about the sensitive topic of teenagers, which is horrid.
Watchers of Hentai can rest easy knowing they’re not contributing, promoting, or being complicit in people being taken advantage of in more ways than one.
4. Those who participate can remain anonymous
Hentai creators, voice actors, etc, have protections that people in the porn industry could never have for obvious reasons.
In porn, you’re the performer and you perform with others whether they are gay, straight, or otherwise. You can’t hide your face or who you are, you accept the bullshit with open arms.
Even if reluctantly. That also means you accept the immortality that comes with the business of doing porn and the consequences that are bound to follow.
In the Hentai industry, there is no such fear, anxiety, or worry about immorality, ethics, standards, or BS that can affect you in the real world and follow you forever/.
You can remain anonymous and even have a pen name if you choose. Nobody can know who you are and you can stay obscure by choice.
Even without choice, you’re still a lot more obscure than the alternative. That’s the benefit of hentai being virtual.

5. No crimes are being committed
It’s a well known truth that in these types of industries there are a lot of crimes happening. By crimes, I simply mean people are doing things that would be illegal if anybody knew about it.
It’s a dark industry where some of the scummiest people exist. This shouldn’t surprise anyone.
Even in regular industries that aren’t “dark” there are people who do all sorts of immoral and unethical things and use “legalities” to hide behind when they get caught (real estate, law, etc).
So imagine what the porn industry looks like.
Hentai doesn’t suffer from this issue because again, everything is virtual and no one is physically or emotionally being manipulated into doing anything crazy.
Besides, this would have no benefit whatsoever and wouldn’t help even the most unethical person since it doesn’t help the end result at all.

6. Nobody leaves the hentai industry damaged and broken
And if they do, it’s not because of the hentai industry, it’s because of something else entirely.
The pornography industry is known for damaging so many men and women after they leave the industry, or even during their time in the industry.
Sure, it might look like many porn stars “do just fine” after the fact, but looking good in public doesn’t change the reality.
The documentaries don’t lie, and neither do the podcasts and videos of many who seem to regret it.
Hentai participants don’t have to regret or stress about anything, or desperately try to fix themselves because of what the industry has done to them both inside and out.
That stands for something, and that’s why it’s more ethical.
7. The characters and what happens to them isn’t real
If anything does go down in a Hentai series that could be considered a “wtf” moment, the fact it isn’t real is what matters a lot here.
Especially when comparing this to the pornography world of real people and real porn stars.
If you had to choose between real people being hurt vs a drawing on the screen, the choice becomes clear.
That’s not to say Hentai can’t be questionable (I’ll do a post about that), but on the ethics scale, Hentai vs pornography is a difference between night and day.

In the end, hentai being virtual, an imagination, a thought, idea, is the reason why it’s more ethical.
No one is hurt in the process and that doesn’t affect those who participate, which is a bonus.
By comparison, the porn industry can’t say the same thing and many turn a blind eye to the realities for the sake of money.
The difference speaks for itself.
