Ecchi

EcchiNew

Definition:

Ecchi is a type of anime genre dedicated to fanservice, sometimes cliches, and in a nutshell, “a strip tease” version of erotic material. Safe for most eyes, but bouncy enough to be considered lewd or sexual in some aspects in terms of eye candy.

Anime shows like “Saekano: How To Raise A Boring Girlfriend”, “High School DxD”, “Prison School”, among others, are examples of Ecchi series.

The term Ecchi also translates to “hentai”, which in Japanese translates to “pervert”, a trope seen in many anime.

Synonyms:
Lewd, Fanservice, Lustful, Suggestive, Eye Candy, Pervert
Antonymys:
Innocent, Modest, Pure, Appropriate
History:

As with many sub genres of anime, ecchi shot to fame in the 1990s era and has continued to be relevant despite its sometimes questionable quality, and a lack of shows dedicated to the genre specifically. It thrives regardless for those who love fanservice and more light hearted content.

"Asterisk War is an underrated Ecchi series".
