When I don’t “know” something, it makes me curious to find out.= And that’s the reason mysterious characters tend to pique my interest.
It’s also why mysterious characters will grab your attention, even if you haven’t “warmed” to them yet.
Because after all – it’s kind of like the “to be continued” message at the end of a video game…
You can’t help yourself from “wanting to find out” what happens next.
Here are 11 mysterious
1. Ai Enma (Hell Girl)
When I first watched Hell Girl, I didn’t know what to make of Ai Enma.
The first impression you get is: she’s a quiet girl with a sense of deep sadness in her eyes.
The more you watch, the more you notice how introverted she is, and how “few” words she speaks.
It’s almost like looking out at the ocean from the beach. You know there’s something beyond the surface, but you just can’t “see” it.
And that’s what adds to her mysterious personality, which pulls you through the Hell Girl series.
2. Shigure Kosaka (Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple)
Shigure’s an introverted character with piercing eyes and an uncomfortable presence.
You come to learn she’s a nice person with a surprising amount of intelligence.
Throughout Shigure is a woman of few words, it’s clear to see there’s more than she lets on. Which Adds to her “mystique” which makes her stand-out.

Little is known about Mei Misaki in Another. A horror/mystery
All we know is she lives above a doll-shop, she’s an introvert, and she went through eye-surgery as a child.

As far as we know, Orphelia was a childhood friend of Julis Alexia.
At some point – Orphelia met a man who changed her life forever. Giving her a dangerous amount of strength and supernatural powers.

And like Ai Enma, she has a sad look in her eyes which tells a story that’s deeper than your eyes can see.
6. Ko Kimijima (Robotic Notes)
This man’s a complete mystery.
He’s the kind of person who intentionally reveals little about himself. Except for the trivial details.
And even at the end of this sci-fi
As well as guessing what kind of person he really is.
7. Gin Ichimaru (Bleach)
Bleach is over 350+ episodes long. And we see Gin for a large portion of those episodes.
And yet – you can’t help but ask, who is this man really? What is he hiding that I can’t see?
It’s these reasons why I love Gin Ichimaru. And his shocking character development + plot twists blew my mind.
8. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji (Classroom Of The Elite)
Ayanokouji’s facial expression rarely changes.
If you were describe him in one word – he’s bland.
But the more you watch Classroom of The Elite, you start to see sides to him that will shock, surprise, or confuse you.
We still need a season 2 to learn more about his mysterious, dark past to fill in the gaps.
9. Kagetane Hiruko (Black Bullet)
Kagetane strikes you as a mad-man who’s sadistic, twisted and too upbeat for his own good.
And that’s what makes him so mysterious. Because in reality, there’s a method to his madness.
And his alluring persona makes it difficult to sniff out his real intentions.
The mask alone is a tell tale sign of his mysterious nature. And never reveals himself or allows anyone to figure out his scheme ahead of time.

Koko’s an arms dealer (seller of weapons) who deals with the Military, warlords and politicians.
And other types of people who are thirsty for power in the underworld.
On the surface, Koko is like Sunshine. She’s always bright, cheerful and smiling.
It’s almost as if she’s a little girl in a playground having fun.
It’s this allure that makes Koko so mysterious, because even a blind person can see there’s more to her than she lets on.
After all, she is an arms dealer who funds violence for a living.

Sphinx is the duo of characters behind the terrorist attacks in Terror In Resonance.
The characters are Nine and Twelve, which is revealed from the first and 2nd episodes.
