2020 was a crazy year in all facets of life. Not just business, anime, or streaming in general.

The lockdown and #coronavirus changed habits, and probably influenced certain anime to rise that we’re not aware of.

In Crunchyroll‘s case, they had an interesting list of anime shows that were the most watched in 2020.

Some anime won’t surprise, but the countries where these anime were most viewed WILL surprise you.

Here’s a breakdown.

 

The Most Watched Crunchyroll Anime by Country:

 

1. Most viewed anime across Africa

• Jujutsu Kaisen.
• The God Of High School.
• Black Clover.

These 3 anime shows were the most viewed across Africa via Crunchyroll in 2020.

Black Clover took a surprising spot, proving it’s consistency is still keeping it relevant. Despite other popular anime.

2. Most viewed anime across Asia

• Boruto.
• Jujutsu Kaisen.
• Onyx Equinox.
• The God Of High School.
• Tower Of God.
• Black Clover.

Across Asia, these 6 anime shows were the most watched on Crunchyroll in 2020.

Boruto proves to be more famous in Asia with fans than in other countries.

Black Clover made an appearance again, with Onyx Equinox dominating as well.

 

3. Most viewed anime in South/Central America

• My Hero Academia S4.
• Attack On Titan Final Season.
• The God Of High School.
• Jujutsu Kaisen.
• Black Clover.
• Tower Of God.

Jujutsu Kaisen has been a consistent anime in many countries. Attack On Titan is especially popular in South America.

Most other anime are of no surprise.

 

4. Most watched anime in North America

• Jujutsu Kaisen.
• My Hero Academia S4.

In North America the viewership is more focused and extreme.

The most viewed anime on Crunchyroll are just Jujutsu Kaisen and MHA S4.

Both dominated to such a level there wasn’t any room for any other anime.

 

5. Most viewed anime in Europe

• My Hero Academia S4.
• Jujutsu Kaisen.
• The God Of High School.
• Tower Of God.
• Black Clover.

The usual suspects are in this list. With My Hero Academia in particular dominating the UK!

Apart from that, it’s an expected list to see.

6. Middle East & North Africa most viewed anime

• Black Clover.

Just like with North America, the most viewed anime are just 2. Black Clover and Jujutsu Kaisen.

Black Clover shows the power of consistency and how it’s helped it maintain relevance.

It seems like Re:Zero is one of the known anime with a following to be appreciated anywhere on this list.

Boruto is the next one, aside from Asia.

After those 2, it’s a pretty typical list with anime that did fairly well in 2020.
