Why People Are Watching MORE Hentai Than Regular Porn In 2023

When I started Anime Motivation in 2016, I never thought I’d be talking about how Hentai is more popular than regular porn.

In fact I never thought Hentai might even be part of the content on this site.

Recently, I covered news from Pornhub about the most popular searches of the year 2022.

I also did a version from 2021.

In both breakdowns of statistics from their side, Hentai is shown to dominate the charts as the most popular search term on their site. Which is a big deal since Pornhub is the biggest site there is for that.

This is true worldwide and in the United States.

Hentai has become so popular that even MILF or terms like Lesbian can’t compete as far as popularity.

This shows you how many people are into Hentai, watch Hentai, but keep it secret. It means someone you know is likely watching Hentai, but you have no idea because they’re so discreet.

This is more true if they’re using sites like pornhub to watch any form of adult entertainment.

 

Why Hentai is more popular than porn in 2023:

 

1. Infinite fetishes

I have all kinds of data after running this website since 2016, especially since Hentai content was introduced here around 2018.

One of those insights, along with knowing the community, the industry, observation, and looking at data, is how Hentai caters to fetishes of all kinds.

Anime only does this on a tiny scale with certain shows, but Hentai has:

• Furry characters.
• Fox girls.
• Cat girls.
• Beast girls.
• Tentacle girls.
• Alien girls.
• Slime girls.

And almost every other big tiddie, big ass, or just generally sexy woman you can think of that fits some sort of fetish and fantasy.

If you can imagine it, you can bet it’s already real and has been done. And it’s designed to be appealing, attractive, and sexy for those who seek out Hentai and wanna watch it.

Compare that to regular porn, which is still unrealistic but features real women and men.

Compared to Hentai:

• Porn has its limits.
• It’s restricted by realism (meaning real people).
• There’s only so much creativity as far as camera work or tricks (not that I’d know).
• And there’s an obvious human limit that can’t be pushed once reached.

Hentai has NONE of these problems. It’s fictional. It’s unreal. It’s animated. It’s the result of what someone thought in their head, wrote out a script for, had designers design and animate, and then released as a film.

It’s an idea brought to reality.

Ideas have no limits as long as there are no human limits attached to them. And so you can make whatever fetish you like with the female characters featured in Hentai, and you can make them appealing even if the real-life version would be bizarre.

A good example would be “monster” girls or even devil girls. Neither is appealing in general, but in an animated sense, it can be flipped on its head and made attractive to appeal to fetishes of all kinds that real life can’t so-called fulfil.

Film can’t do that, but animated films and Hentai can do it.

2. Creativity

This is a follow-up to my last point about the infinite amount of fetishes you can pull out of a hat with Hentai.

Whatever you imagine as a creator, you can make real for people who are willing to consume and be entertained by.

The problem with creativity, in general, is when you reach the point of limitation. At that stage, there’s only so much you can do and so much you can make happen to make the piece of art different and unique.

Anime, or animated content like Hentai, has fewer limits and is mostly only limited by the creator’s imagination.

This is probably why Hentai usually is associated with:

• Freaks.
• Weirdos.
• Strange people.
• Guys who get no p****y.

And whatever other stereotype or judgment that’s out there when talking about Hentai or this type of content in general.

Aside from the fact people don’t understand those who watch Hentai, which is why these judgments exist, the fact Hentai has so much room to be creative is why it’s winning in the adult entertainment side of the business.

In fact, its been winning for years. Hentai has always dominated in the background, with numbers that make even the most famous of people or things seem inferior in comparison.

It was just never talked about openly.

 

3. It’s new and different

When I say, it’s “new,” I don’t mean it only just started. I mean, compared to what people have been used to and what is accepted, at least publicly, Hentai is a new wave of adult entertainment.

Because it’s from Japan and associated with anime, both have struggled to get acceptance in the way regular western media (or adult media) has been accepted.

Walking around with a Hentai or even an anime hoodie will get you different looks than walking around with a half-naked picture of Nicki Minaj on a t-shirt.

That’s just the reality.

This is also why it still feels “new” and different for those discovering it because it’s so downplayed, looked down on, and treated like a taboo. And that has only made people more curious and Hentai more famous as a result.

 

4, Easily accessible

Unlike regular adult entertainment, Hentai is known for its piracy. Not to say regular adult entertainment doesn’t have piracy, but the level of piracy doesn’t compare to hentai or even anime in general.

This is what makes Hentai so easily accessible and readily available. With websites (pirate sites) getting millions of visitors as a result of hosting hentai, its led to the explosion of hentai over the years.

This is true for anime as well. Piracy helped the industry thrive, survive, and dominate years later because pirate sites provided content that most streaming services couldn’t. Even today, that’s true.

This is even more true for Hentai because:

• Most streaming services won’t dare to license it (legally).
• And it’s too raw and uncut for regular services to consider it.

That leaves very few legitimate companies, if any, who will stream Hentai legally. Hence it being streamed illegally through piracy, with that form of accessibility being the reason for its rise and domination of online adult entertainment.

The only form of hentai not battling with piracy is Hentai games.

With the anime industry being known for its lack of statistics, Hentai is even worse, probably because it’s more “adult” and more prone to being censored.

As more statistics get published, if at all over the years, the popularity will grow even more, and it’ll give a bigger insight into the what’s and why’s of Hentai watchers.
