The name above is of the anime: Rokudenashi (In Japanese).
As much as it hurts to say, Rokudenashi’s translated name is awful. Even though the anime is great.
Which is why a good anime name is SO IMPORTANT. The wrong name can make or break a series.
But what about examples of good, memorable, catchy anime names?
I’ve watched a fuck-load of anime shows, so I know a thing or too about “good” names.
These 13 examples are more than worth mentioning…
Great Anime Titles:
1. Snow White With The Red Hair
Why is this such a good name? It has to do with association.
Almost everyone knows of the cartoon: Snow White And The 7 Dwarfs.
That cartoon is mega-popular.
Snow White With The Red Hair is a spin on the original name. And it does a good job of making you curious about the series.
2. Spice And Wolf
This is an anime name that’s interesting and impossible to figure out the first time.
And that’s what makes the name: Spice And Wolf so interesting and unique.
3. Interviews With Monster Girls
What’s great about this name is it tells you WHAT the anime is about.
While at the same time, it doesn’t reveal too much.
And let’s be honest: there aren’t any anime shows with a name like that.
It’s easy to remember.
4. The Ultimate Otaku Teacher
Another anime name that tells you what it’s about, while making you curious enough to give it a try.
And the anime lives up to its name. Junichirou Kagami is literally the Ultimate Otaku Teacher.
Noir strikes me as a mysterious anime name. And that’s what drawn me to it.
And just like its name, Noir is a mystery anime series filled with thriller and drama.
Simple, short and familiar. Those 3 words describe the anime name: Orange.
And besides – it’s hard NOT to remember the name of a delicious fruit.
7. Food Wars
Another anime name that describes the show in a few words.
It’s one of the most accurate, simple and interesting anime names that lives up to its promise.
8. My Bride Is A Mermaid
Again, this is a simple anime name that tells you what you’re getting into.
And that much is obvious starting from episode 1 of My Bride Is A Mermaid.
9. Dragon Ball Z
The funny thing about this name is: you don’t discover it’s meaning until later into the series.
It’s one of the most odd anime names ever thought of. With a level of mystique like the anime: Noir.
An anime with the same name and spelling as the detergent: Bleach?
It’s a strange name for a supernatural series, but it’s simple as well.
11. Assassination Classroom
What anime do you know of that combines the words: Assassin and classroom?
The first thought at seeing this name is likely: “Wow, this sounds crazy”. Or something along those lines.
And the name’s “almost” accurate as far as the story-line and plot.
12. The Devil Is A Part-Timer
The funny thing about this anime name is: it’s true in a way that’s hilarious.
The Devil, Satan, is forced to work part-time not long after landing on earth.
13. In Another World With My Smartphone
In Another World With My Smartphone is an accurate description of what to expect.
A teenager is accidentally killed by god, but manages to have his smartphone upgraded in another world after being reborn.
This anime is a personal favorite of mine in 2017.
