1. Kusuo Saiki (Saik K)
Kusuo Saiki is the pink haired main character who is so powerful he can bend, break, change, and reframe reality without much effort.
He claims he did this once because he was pissed off, making all the anime characters’ hair colours change simply because he wished for it.
Jokes aside, Saiki is a guy who doesn’t wanna bother anyone and doesn’t wanna be bothered by anyone without his consent of course.
He’s protective of his time, his space, and his energy. Whereas Gray would speak his mind and let his intentions be known in this scenario, Saiki can just teleport, twist reality in his favour, or do something out of this world to regain peace and quiet.
Even without the silliness of Saiki K as an anime, Kusuo has a lot of contrast with Gray Fullbuster for their introversion, mindset, and day to day personas.
2. Rogue (Fairy Tail)
Rogue is the introvert of the Sabretooth guild, whereas his friend Sting is definitely the more extroverted character and is much louder.
This contrast is similar to Gray and Natsu from the Fairy Tail guild.
Rogue is a nice person on the inside and only wants the best for those around him. He lets people into his circle slowly but is not an aggressive person unless pushed and provoked unnecessarily.
This is a lot like Gray in this way. Neither character goes out of their way to cause trouble but is willing to put an end to it if it comes down to it.
3. Aqua Hoshino (Oshi No Ko)
Aqua Hoshino is a laid back, cool calm and collected character who doesn’t take much too seriously. But he does have less of a sense of humour compared to Gray Fullbuster.
Both characters would get along, but the relationship might be odd at first given how extra icey Aqua can be in putting up a barrier and not letting people get too close too quickly.
In a world where Aqua is happier and the issue with his mother’s death is solved, this would look very different and Aqua’s personality would be more in line with Gray’s in some ways, but not all.
4. Shinei (Eighty-Six)
Shinei is the protagonist of Eighty Six besides Vladelina Milize. He’s the leader of his squad, the same squad that is banished by the government and is discriminated against and treated as if they’re not human.
The latter is the basis of the Eighty Six series, with Milize doing everything she can to change that, but more importantly, to reunite with Shinei, a laid back, calm character.
It’s only when it comes to matters that are deep and dark, like Gray in a way, that Shinei becomes a savage.
5. Shoto Aizawa (My Hero Academia)
Shoto Aizawa is an introvert without question, and he’s also a man who most don’t choose to fuck with before thinking it through.
His quirk erases other quirks as long as he has eye contact, making him a threat to practically every character.
He’s a hard teacher who gives tough love and isn’t someone who cracks a smile too easily, making him a bit more serious than Gray in this way (though he is older and has been through more in life).
Both characters can come across as people who might be hard to figure out as they don’t wear their hearts on their sleeves, and are exceptionally calm in general.
6. Soma Yukihira (Food Wars)
Soma Yukihira is the protagonist of Food Wars and the main red-headed character who is competitive, driven, motivated, and all around entertaining.
I wouldn’t call Soma introverted, or even extroverted, he strikes the balance between both and has an optimistic (but not overly optimistic) attitude towards life.
If he and Gray met, they’d get along in a more chilled way than Gray and Natsu did in the earlier stages.
7. Lyon (Fairy Tail)
Lyon is Gray’s childhood friend after all. Both of them were trained under Ur, their master, and one of the most powerful female wizards of all time.
More so when you consider wizards who use ICE magic.
Lyon is the more extroverted of the two characters, but they both share traits as far as stubbornness, strength, and attitude towards the wrongs of the world and are both easygoing characters.
Gray Fullbuster handles women better than Leone though, which becomes obvious in the anime and its constant comedy.
8. Naofumi Iwatani (Shield Hero)
Naofumi Iwatani was at the peak of his popularity and fame when the first season aired. The revenge plot against the wicked bitch who decided to make a false r*pe accusation, getting Naofumi banned from the kingdom.
Followed by being judged by people who are judging without proof.
This makes him rawer, uncut, tough, sceptical, cautious and fleshes out his character and adds a whole lot of depth to his story and the anime’s action scenes, outcomes, etc.
He has many crossovers with Gray Fullbuster as far as personality and demeanour and is generally cool and laid back.
9. Touma Kamijou (A Certain Magical Index)
Touma Kamijou has a similar look to Gray in a lot of ways, just different because of their artists and in Fairy Tail’s case, their history with anime studios (A1 Pictures for Fairy Tail).
In the anime series, Touma is the protagonist, and in his case, he’s more obviously naive and doesn’t notice the obvious at times when it comes to women (Gray less so, but subtly similar).
Both Touma and Gray have a strong sense of justice, and would never even think to betray the people they care about or anyone they consider friends or family.
Lone wolves are what I’d call them. But they do often accept help from others and learn to collaborate despite their introverted ways.
